I guess I could clarify rather than everyone trying to figure out what I meant. I didnt want to spend too much time in the loud crowded taproom trying each of the "classic" beers. I wanted a mixed 4 pack of the 2 beers that sounded the most interesting to me, and get out ASAP.
Why didnt I just buy a 4 pack of each? Because i didnt want to spend the money on 2 4-packs and didnt want that much beer.
Why didnt i just buy one 4-pack of one style? Because i like variety and dont want to be stuck with 4 cans of the beer if it turned out to be mediocre.

I know earlier in the thread we were talking about how flights are a waste of time and possibly money, but if the cans all cost the same i dont see how mixing 4 packs is worse.

I'm pretty much the same way most of the time. When they were releasing OGFPPA alongside Vicinity monthly, that was my case and my Trillium for the month. Lately, I've had less reason to go...

Yup, this is exactly what I do. And not just at breweries liquor stores too.

There's way too much beer out there to try, and in addition to that, way too much mediocre beer to purchase a large amount of any one beer.

If it's something I've had before and is sessionable, I'll spring for the full pack. Or if it's something highly touted that's new to me and/or highly touted and new to the area. A few recent examples, Ayinger Pils and Super Session #2.

Just opened a bottle of the BS King Lear.

Tastes like a banana wine IPA.

Much like Reece Witherspoons face, oddly nice but weird.

They also didn't allow flights during the throwback event. They did allow tasters though but that was a bit of a pain (both for the bartender and for the patron). I know some people asked for flights and then assumed the couldn't get tasters either. Personally I think they should have had maybe 2 flight options, flight A and flight B. Flight A being 3 of the throwbacks mixed in with something else to fill out the flight and then flight B being the other 3 filled in with something else. Of the 6 beers I had only had Trifecta before so committing to a 4 pack of 5 other beers wasn't something I wanted to do without trying them first. Normally if there was a special release I'd be ok committing to a 4 pack of it but with so many releases it just was too much of a gamble.

I ended up walking out with 6 4 packs of beer but not all of the throwback. Had I not been able to try all the beers I probably would have just stopped by and picked up one or two 4 packs. It would be interesting if they were able to break down how sales went based on people who only bought cans vs people who bought beers at the bar and take away cans. Does the ability to try more beers correlate to more purchases?

So responsive! Hopefully the flow of traffic supports the move becoming long term, especially with their ranges of styles. You can build a hell of a four pack...

That's awesome. I was debating on whether I was going to stop by on my way home from the airport later this week and this might have pushed that decision to yes. I'm just hoping they still have fluffy by then, that might end up being a 4 pack still though.

Thanks all for the feedback over the last few months. We are happy to roll out single can purchases in the taproom due to all the requests both on here and in our taproom. If the demand is strong during this trial period we will keep them - if its not a success (weak demand, slowing down of service, etc) then we will roll back to just 4-packs.

We have so many awesome beers in cans that I fully believe this will be a big success. Make a 2, 4, or 10 pack of your dreams!

    Cheers!

It's not in their regular rotation, but I wish it was... one of my favorite beers from any brewery! I think they've brewed it 3-4 times now, so hopefully it continues to be brewed at least semi-regularly. I might have named it Haulin' Oats instead, but it's the Simcoe that is the star, anyway.

hope the single can sales are still on the go. Fancy picking up some One Hop and this Swell IPA tomorrow. a 4 pk of each would be a nice weekend, but then another couple of each that i can share would be nice.

Swell is pretty nice. A body somewhere between fluffy and 87. Lovely fresh crisp hop flavours. Nice citra mosaic taste. Resiney aftertaste. A little fruity. Something like a Captains Daughter.

Huge fan of Cul De Sac. Would be the perfect beer to put in 12 packs of 12oz'ers next summer, just saying...

603 NH ale is better than cul de sac by miles for a fairly hoppy cream. And in 12 packs on the cheap. If you are chasing Amarillo there are tons of places to go. Chasing a hoppy cream in 12s, you don't have to look far.

Will definitely give that a try. My only real complaint with CDS was it seemed pricy so I'm all for a better(?!) cheaper option
