They had longer tables to the right toward the bathrooms and sofas in the back left corner by the fire. Haven't actually been in the annex the last two times I visited so don't know if they've gone

I think you’re talking about OHTT

No, he’s right (although OHTT was also being overproduced). Morph was being released close to bi-weekly in early 2017. Now it’s down to around once a month.

I agree with the old cans problem. I took home a four pack of Annie oatley and it was over a month old I believe. Still tastes great was just a little off putting seeing as many other places the beer is a lot fresher. But hey it still tastes good and night shift provides a fun place to drink. Although it is a pain to get to coming from Boston

Can buy 4-packs as cheap as $10-11 in stores around Boston. Annoying to pay NS a premium at the taproom

I personally think they'll have to continue to lower prices. I used to buy them regularly, but now they aren't get much of my money. It is a crowded market

Where are you coming from? I'm in Davis, so it's a super easy Uber for me.

As added incentives for your wife/friends are Bone Up Brewing and Down the Road. Down the Road has a great open tap room with tables, couches, and pin ball machines.

If you're only going sporadically, you can make the rounds and hit up Mystic and Idle Hands too. If you start at Nightshift earlier (like 1 or 2) it shouldn't be crowded, then you can head over to the other spots during Nightshift's peak times. Nightshift also seems to be less busy later at night too.

Honestly the last couple times I've been there in the last few months, I've barely encountered a line, which is an improvement. Still can get fairly packed inside though.

Regardless, it's nothing compared to the nightmare Lamplighter and Aeronaut can be.

Lamplighter is awful as a taproom.

I’m coming from Brighton/Newton, so it’s an expensive uber. Have yet to have a beer at Bone Up I like and it’s so small that it barely absorbs the NS overflow. I prefer Mystic. Haven’t been to Down the Road yet. Though I think it’s in the space of a gun range I went to once.

I concur about Lamplighter. Complete asinine experience, but it was a plus they were pouring into Teku's.

I really don't see the buzz about them. Every beer they had on tap was mediocre at best.

Almost. I've been saying that for months it feels like. Should be end of the month or early next.

It's 2018, why should I be fighting for a bartender's attention at the actual brewery?

Give the patrons a primary place to make a drink request instead of making us reach over people's shoulders increasing the chances of a spill etc.

I've never been to Lamplighter but despise having no area to place a drink order and having to try to gain attention over people's shoulders. Then having to reach through or over people. Even being at the bar and people having to do it to you is supremely annoying.

I’ve been to Lamplighter twice, both times to pick up Major Tom. Once in the afternoon, and the other time was Saturday night. The wife and I had a blast both times. Would definitely go back again.

One of my favorite things about night shift is the sign in the middle of the bar that says, don't form a line, come to the bar and order a drink (like every bar in the world) in front of which a huge line always forms.

And I bypass that line, walk to the bar, buy a drink.

Add in that half the people are on their laptops at the bar, some drinking coffee from the in house coffee shop. And the laptop crew have no time for you trying to order a beer and have fun.

The Night Shift bar is always well staffed. They do that better than all other taprooms.

The coffee shop closes at three. It's a completely different experience at night, or late afternoon, or early evening and particularly when it's not on Saturday, by far the busiest day of the week. Come back some other time, I think your experience will be quite different.
