Pretty sure Trillium doesn't break up 4pks either.

I could be wrong but if you want less than a 4pk at Trillium, a 32oz growler or a pour (in Canton) are your only options.

Yup - Trillium totally splits up 4pks - I'll often get 2 cans of a couple things at a time.

Same here. I've often picked up a mixed 4-pack of 4 different beers at Trillium.

Having to buy a 4 pack is a great reason. You want to try everything but can't.

Say there are 4 ohtt. You would by one of each. Now you have to buy either a 4pk of all or the 2 4pk of what you want most. They sell more beer and it is less of a hassle.

The tap room being full is the biggest issue. Employees running around putting together 4 packs while it is super busy is so counterproductive.

Urban Grape and Fort Point Market both regularly stock the entire Night Shift lineup and sell singles.

I think having this many OHTT and Morph's right now could potentially cause a bit of a problem, particularly when busy. I noticed 14 IPAs on tap currently (not including Whirlpool).

The issue is, say you want an IPA, well with 14 of them, you've likely not tried them all already even if you're local (ironically I think I've at least had half ). So what do you do? Well a flight or two of course.

I imagine bartenders hate pouring flights when it's packed in the tap room, and it definitely slows down service when compared to pouring one pint...pouring four different beers, keeping track of them and writing it down on the card, and then pricing out four different beers.

I like flights myself though, mainly because there's always at least a few different beers I've never tried when I'm there (not a bad thing). But, as I've said earlier in this post, it has its own set of problems. Not to mention when it's at capacity you have to find SOMEWHERE to put your flight down, as opposed to a pint that you can just hold while standing up.

I mean, I get the obvious answer is that it forces me to buy larger volume. I guess the question is why not break them up when the precedent is already set at other breweries, some of which don't have the wealth of variations available at one time even.

Last time I went to their brewery for their Oktoberfest, they had a truly great Marzen! One of the easiest drinkers I've had in a long while, got 2 full steins of it!

I would love to see 4 packs being able to be broken up as well. I went to Exhibit-A, Jack's Abby and Springdale last weekend and was pleasantly surprised to see they allow you to split.

Someone mentioned that splitting up 4 packs could be problematic at busy times so a great compromise would be that splitting is only available during non peak hours. I was in last night after driving home from the airport to try El Lechador as well as pick up some beers. I was disappointed to have to choose between beers since I would have to buy all 4 packs to try more. I walked away with a Bean Porter and a 4 pack of Dynasty but if I could have bought singles I probably would have bought at least 6 individual beers if not more. Granted this is a small complaint, I can certainly understand why they don't do it but given the number of beers I want to drink from them its impossible to buy all 4 packs.

Night Shift is probably my favorite brewery to go to, everyone there is always so friendly and nice really enjoyed my short time there last night. I try to schedule my flights in and out of Logan so I can make a stop there

@rdecker679 - Yes, selling single cans is something we have considered. We haven't done it mainly do to inventory tracking/accounting and extra labor in the taproom. But we are working on improving that. For the OHTT we are considering making a mix 4 pack of them ahead of time. The wholesale team is also going to send some out to the market in the mix format to test the concept out. A few of our accounts have done that themselves and got great feedback.

We are always trying to improve our experience and allow people to enjoy the diversity of beers we make in the best way. So thanks all for the great feedback - we will continue to explore implementation.

    Cheers!

As always, thank you for the quick replies and continuous improvement.

A semi-unrelated question...if it rains on Saturday will there be a tent outside in the parking lot?

Yes, we will have a tent in the parking lot. We have a couple different layouts depending on what the weather gods give us. Hopefully they allow us to have a fun Oktoberfest style event in the parking lot. We have awesome music, beer releases, and food lined up for Saturday. Should be fun regardless but will be even better with the extra space!

Really looking forward to this event.

Only been up there a couple of times, is the neighborhood around okay for parking? Could one realistically park in the best buy parking lot and walk down? Coming in from Worcester, so public transit isn't much of an option.

I wouldn't recommend parking in Best Buy's lot. There is street parking and an empty lot just passed our brewery where people park. If that's all taken you can go down Air force Road and there is a big lot. About a 10 min walk. You can also park at Wellington station and walk over which is also 10 mins.

It wasnt at Best Buy, but i've parked at another large chains parking lot to visit a different brewery and came back to find my car towed. I learned my lesson and wouldnt be surprised if Best Buy had a similar policy where if you leave the premises they can tow your car.
