I got a couple bottles and an 8 ounce pour at the release today and it was as good as I remembered from last year. I'm surprised that a super limited bourbon barrel imperial stout from Night Shift manages to fly under the radar compared to similar local releases. Anyway, worth trying if you're near Night Shift while it's on tap!
Nice! I have yet to have anything non-hoppy from these guys, but they are probably my favorite hoppy beer maker in Mass. Would love to try this out. Will it survive to next week?
I couldn't detect any heat at all, which I thought was pretty impressive. It was really good, I'm going to age a bottle. Based on what I heard, I'd say there's a chance it will last to Friday, but I'd probably get at it tomorrow if you want to secure some.
Per their twitter, there were "more than" 250 bottles left as of 4pm...and that was before the majority of the after work crowd, I would think.
Ooh I love that it's on tap as well. Love how they did this with AB Lechedor. Good on them for letting the people taste without going big if they don't want to!
Someone told me they still had about 500 at around 7p. I left about 30 minutes before close and they definitely still had some.
AB Lechedor sold out in the first hour and was much more limited. I doubt there was anyone who got to try the beer before buying it. That said, I don't disagree with you. I always prefer to taste a beer before buying a bottle.
Night Shift Brewing @NightShiftBeer 3 minutes ago #Darkling update: just under 25% left in stock (about 250 bottles), will likely sell out today. Still plenty on draft!
Went by last night around 5, nice crowd, lots of people showing up to grab bottles and give it a try but thankfully wasnt a madhouse. Had a pour, enjoyed it and grabbed some bottles... very happy with how smooth and easy it was
Night Shift does some beer really well, other beer they do just OK. Darkling falls under the 'really well' category. Smooth, not too hot, and def glad got more then 1 bottle. Not going to complain about the price point, but couldn't pull the trigger to get my full allotment at 120$. Guess that means more for everyone else. Anyways, go today and get some!
Darkling is fantastic, like a baby BCBS. Nice Bourbon on the nose, very smooth with little to no heat. Dangerously drinkable. Glad I took an uber from work to the Brewery at lunch to grab some bottles before the sold out.
Picked some up yesterday and tried it at the brewery- absolutely fantastic. So smooth and easy to drink!
