Yes, but it’s mostly sarcasm. I’m obviously not going to disclose my salary, but I do ok.

I can tell you I’m absolutely not a 1%-er though.

The whole thing is mostly just that though, a joke.

I also apologize if I was unclear, I didn’t mean to suggest my personal experiences were reflective of the general population. Anecdotes are just that, personal experiences. Not fact.

    Thanks!

The graph is a bit odd but its graphing affordability over time not price but not when it comes to income and CPI as those are there for reference. The graph of wage vs CPI does show that effectively wages have not increased, they have basically kept up. The slope of CPI and wages are pretty close.

The timeframe, to me, is the biggest problem. It starts at 1998 which is close to the start of both the housing boom and dot com boom (after both but just after). It's starting in the recovery period of one recession and ends in the recovery of the next. Affordability is very much affected by location, which this graph doesn't reflect. Income is increasingly becoming less related to location but that's not changing affordability. For instance many white collar jobs today don't require you to live any where near the location of the business, this has grown exponentially since even 1998. The salary of two workers at the same company will likely not differ greatly by their location but their ability to afford where they live does. This mobility bonus generally is limited to higher educated and higher paid incomes. It also should be broken down by income levels. Higher income levels have increased greater than lower income levels, that will affect affordability when broken down by income bracket. These things aren't as simple as a graph and statistics is one of the best tools to make anything look good or bad when not properly analyzed.

Why are we talking about this again and why am I responding, lol.

Just for reference, the top 2% of wealth in the U.S. puts someone at $10m.

Yeah we’re quite far from he actual thread topic now.

All I know is Nightshift should make a barrel-aged stout called “Egos and Nepotism” now.

As in $10 million per year for a salary, or a net worth of $10 million?

I just want to drill a hole in this thread and make sweet, sweet love to it. Neat way to see how small the political and social diversity is amongst the majority craft fanatics. Explains a ton about the view of the individual businesses and the view of the sector as a whole.

Everyone should need it. Even people not close. How can you demonize a group you can't pinpoint? How can a person be evil for no reason unless the context exists?

It's really a cool turn of phrase, "Egos & Nepotism." BA stout, band name, whatever, it works for a lot of things.

I always believe responses to the OP should be limited to about the first 10 or 15, then they just become a bunch of nonsense.

Ha, even though it was a joke, I asked mostly because one of the articles I linked earlier defined the top 1% in Boston as making ~$400-500k per year.

To be fair the OP (and others supporting her claims) responded, which generated more responses from others.

Well in an industry where it's not unusual to pay roughly the same for a 4 pack as what the average person pays for a case of bud light, would you expect diversity?

That being said I think most posters here have made attempts to try not to show their political leanings directly. Reading between the lines I think you can find posts that probably show up on both sides of the political spectrum though I think it does lean towards one side a bit.

From a social and cultural diversity aspect, well I think if we were all in a room together we'd all probably look a lot a like.
