There were a few 4 packs at Upper Falls liquors this evening. $10.99. I passed for Smutty IPA 12er bottled 9/8 @ $13.

Bummer, bought one 4-pack of the 9/9 batch at Julio's this afternoon out of curiosity but after reading the description wish I got 2!

Hoping to find some batch #2 in Boston. Haven't seen it yet at any of my usual spots, maybe it's because all you guys are snatching them up. I drank my bottle of Harborside last night and it was amazing!

Update: Found it at Brookline Liquor Mart. Looked like they had 5 4-packs left.

I too just got a 9/9/14 four pack from Brookline Liquor Mart. This is the best IPA I've had from Night Shift and one of their best beers overall. I could sit and sniff the fresh aromas from this empty can for a while.

I don't seem to be having the same experience with batch 2. Tasted buttery as it warmed up and I didn't care for the maltiness. It also looked like swamp water. I'll open a second can tonight and see if the first one was just off or something.

First few sips were from the can but I just too curious about what it looked like. I poured it in and was all like :grimacing:

Haven't had batch 2. Batch 1 looked like grapefruit juice with Metamucil stirred in. Whirlpool is similar, but I thought better than Morph 1 by a fair bit.

At first glance after pouring, I thought they had canned "Mud."

I've liked most of Night Shift's beers, but a lot of them are not real lookers. Mud or swamp water are pretty accurate descriptions. Taste good though.

Pour "the number one beer in the world" into a glass and then tell me it sucks.

I actually wasn't too taken by it either. Batch 09/09. Nothing particularly wrong with it, if I didn't know what to expect. Not even near the "citrus bomb" or "tons of citrus" like some people describe. And I can actually get why someone mentioned "rotting fruit".

Most importantly, it doesn't taste AT ALL like a modern IPA, no noticeable forward hoppiness, whether on a nose or in taste. Nothing to justify the chase. I tried two cans. First one maybe had a little of characteristics people describe (the can was still warm, so maybe that distracted me), the other, tried just this evening - pretty much none. Will see how the other two taste.

P.S. I hope I'm not imagining it , the can I tried today didn't seem firm enough, or firm as expected, when squeezed. Lost pressure for whatever reason..?

I was not a fan of the 9/9 batch either. It tasted nearly sour to me. A very strange IPA.

I agree the 9/9 batch was not quite my speed but based on appearance and smell (man I loved inhaling this beer), I can tell I'll eventually love one of these batches. 9/9 felt like biting into a lime rind and all. Just a bit too funky/sour for me but YMMV.

I got a 4-pack of 9/9 Morph at the brewery, and my experience was aligned with the citrus bomb that some are getting. Given that Sour Tea was an accident (infected Bee Tea) I wonder if they had some kind of infection issues with Morph as well? Not sure why only some people would be getting the infected stuff but maybe it has something to do with how the cans were stored or something? Just hypothesizing...
