I used to drink southpaw just because I'm left handed...then I had a beer.

I think Michelob is in such decline because it previously was successful as the top shelf and premium offering when there were hardly any other options and it still was a familiar taste to the other AAL's. Now people go to easy to find craft, Heineken, Stella to be more showy and those are easy to find. The lighter beers are all declining because Michelob Ultra seems to be the "go-to" beer option for non-BA's concerned about calorie counting. At least I see a lot of people drinking Ultra, so I'm assuming its greatly increased sales over last 5+ years to swap out the decline seeing in the other light beer options.

The first actual beer I started drinking on a regular basis was MGD, some 15 years ago. I lived in Colorado at the time, ironically. I eventually moved on and progressed into craft. And although I still drink some cheap adjunct lagers (at least in the summer), I cannot stand the taste of MGD.

I think the only reason Red Dog is dying off because me and my friends quit buying CASES of it a long time ago.....

Michelob Ultra is popular due to the Low Carb Craze. But regular Michelob and Michelob Light were decent. Their Pale Ale was good and cheap, and their Michelob Dunkel was great for the price. Of the Plank Road offerings, Icehouse is still common in my area, as many who love a cheap drunk like it. Old Milwaukee is findable and decent. Mickey's Malt Liquor is still findable with a little driving.
