I just found a video saying Ninkasi Brewery is starting the first test of their attempt to brew a beer in space.
    The link: http://beerstreetjournal.com/ninkasi-wants-brew-beer-space-video/

Not sure if this has been posted or not already, I did a search and did not see anything.

Just curious as to everyone's thoughts on this weird unique experiment.

Sending yeast into space, and then making beer with it? Are we sure this isn't Dogfish Head and not Ninkasi?

Sending yeast into space and actually brewing in space are quite far apart, but I guess it's a place to start. I'll be interested to hear how this experiment goes.

I thought if you sent living food stuff into space it automatically turns into the worst possible alien nightmare one can conjure? Isn't that why they have that astronaut ice cream that's all dry? Hmmmm, maybe I wasn't paying attention in 5th grade science. Hey, speaking of astronaut ice cream, someone should brew with that stuff. I love that shit. Dehydrated ice cream beer needs to happen.

You thought $120 a bottle for truffle beer was high. I can only imagine what the overhead on this will make the final product cost.

Well, the cost to send something on the SpaceX Falcon 9 v1.1 is $1,864 per pound. Obviously the cost varies from rocket to rocket.

I heard 3Floyds was already doing this, the beer is called Zombie Star Dust - super hard to get.

Well small batch extremely expensive beer. If it's made right you could almost call it the next white whale.

IIRC, on one of the space shuttle flights, an astronaut took along a bag of hops, that a brewery then used. I couldn't find it with a quick google search. maybe I'll look harder later.

    Yawn, Sapporo already did this.

Did sapporo make a good beer out of it though, because I never heard of it.

Edit: With a quick search, sapporo only used barley grown in space. Ninkasi is doing experiments with yeast viability in space. There is a big difference.

If they brew it with stardust and triple hop it and have an abv of 11%....this will be amazing.

Seriously, needs to be called Major Tom's Last Tipple.
