wow, 20 plus for Ninkasi beer. I might have to try this... on tap that is. 20 seems to be the norm these days I suppose.

This is easily the most hyped Ninkasi beer I have ever seen. The space yeast seems like a gimmick (doesn't mean the beer isn't good), but it seems to have resonated with a lot of people judging by the anticipation here in town. Like Phobicsquirrel I plan to wait for it on tap.

It was not very good out of the bottle, very sharp and almost artificial notes of hazelnut..

Yeah. It's not like the yeast spent 6 months on the ISS, it was just a quick up & down shot. Honestly, if it were Rogue pushing this beer, we'd all be lining up to up to jump on 'em about their latest gimmick.

This is surely more gimmicky than Beard Beer, right?

They're in the same neighborhood, IMHO. Given Rogues penchant for gimmicks, I'm a bit more skeptical of them.

Seriously? Is it moving well at your store? My friends and I have discussed it, and we just can't bite at $20, we don't see the value. Since there's more volume, will the price come down any?

We sold through the initial 3cs within 36 hours, the new shipment isn't moving quite as fast, but there does still seem to be great demand for it. It would be worth splitting with a few people, I don't know if I would spend $20, especially considering that Parabola was $16.99 this year, and there is still freaking Abyss right next to it for the same asking price of Ground Control!

    See, I'd bite at $15, but I can't justify $20 to myself.

In case anyone in Portland doesn't want to pay 15-20$ for the beer I just saw where it'll be tapped at roscoes on fri.

wish I had seen this thread when I was in town last week...it was on tap at Bailey's

and it was delicious! gobs of rich, dark mocha and lots of dark fruits. close your eyes and it was very easy to imagine a chocolate hazelnut raspberry torte dessert-like flavor.

I wound up buying a bottle at Belmont Station the next day for (I think) $18. then of course found out that it was distro'd to New York this week lol. ah well.

Kind of hard to pull the trigger on this one at $20 when I see Parabola sitting there at $16 and CCbomb at $18. I like their IPA's but like Seb said have yet to have a Ninkasi stout that I thought was any good.

Finally tried this on tap and I'm glad I did (opposed to buying a bottle) as it was very underwhelming.
