Hey all, I recently received a kegerator as a wedding gift, and really want to get it set up. I already have a CO2 canister and regulator. Does anyone know if I can empty out that canister and use it and the same regulator to run a nitro keg? Thanks, Jon
Need to make sure regulator can run nitrogen and if someone will find a co2 tank with the beer gas mix.
Yes you can. Some guys won't do beer gas in standard co2 tanks.Only think I think that doesn't work would be if you have a double guage regulator. The tank guage won't read any pressure. ( From what I heard)
most all nitro regulators are left hand reverse thread and will therefore only mate to the corresponding nitro canister. if your supplier can get you 25/75N blend beer gas and sells it in a standard CO2 can then you are set. if you can't find this you may have to get a nitro regulator. you are also going to need a nitro faucet. Cheers.
Most nitrogen tanks have a female thread for nitrogen regulators whereas the CO2 tanks have a male thread for CO2 regulators. There is an adapter you can get to use a regular CO2 regulator on a female thread tank, but I have never used one. Additionally, nitrogen tanks are usually rated for much higher pressures than CO2 tanks and so you may have a hard time finding someone willing to fill the CO2 tank with the beer gas mix.
