Heading to NJ in a few weeks and was not sure if the "Places" section here on BA was up to date.

Looking to stop at Kane, but other suggestions would be great. Really have not heard much about the Brewery scene in NJ.

    Cheers!

You havent heard of it because in general it isnt very good... Kane is a must visit, I hear good things about Carton (only had 1 ofering from them). If looking for a brewpub I enjoy Harvest Moon in New Brunswick - fair prices, good food and above average beer (though nothing will stand out on most visits). What areas in NJ are you visiting?

Both Kane and Carton are very good. I agree with oddnotion, kane is a must visit. If youre looking for good food and a place that has a nice selection you can check out old bay in New Brunswick or Brickwall tavern in asbury park, Brickwall tavern is very close to Kane.

In regards to Kane and Carton, note their hours for when you plan to visit:

Kane - Friday from 4-7pm and Saturday from 12-5pm.

    Carton - Thu - Fri: 5:00 pm - 7:30 pm, Sat - Sun: 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Kane will fill any type of 2L growler (no 1L) and serves flights as well as full pours. Carton is still more of a tour and tasting operation with growler fills. Both breweries tend to announce whats available on FB and Twitter since it changes fairly often.

Headed to Jamesburg, NJ, but not afraid to travel out of my way, sounds like Kane is the place to hit around 4:00 on a Friday.

Will Kane fill two 1L growlers for the same price? Or not at all?

Last time I was there, probably over the winter, they wouldn't fill my 1L growlers at all.

Ramstein may be worth going out of your way.

Unfortunately they won't fill any 1L growlers. Their 2L fills aren't terribly expensive though.

They will not fill any 1L growlers at this time... i think once they have their own 750s to sell, they will though. I really hope they start soon, I think it is good to have options

Gusto grill in East Brunswick/old bridge is very close to jamesburg. Gusto will be having a nj tap takeover towards the end of the month. Might be perfect timing for you

While I would still hit up Kane if you don't mind taking a drive, this is some good advice also. However, be prepared to stick your nose in the air while you mingle with the killer crowd in there.

If Ramstein keeps their traditional schedule, Octoberfest release might be Sept. 7.
