Hey NJ beer friends, I live in SoCal, and will have family visiting me at the end of July. As you probably guessed, they will be coming from Essex County. I was thinking about maybe asking them if they could bring a few bottles out for me. I'm wondering what you guys are seeing on the shelves that isn't available on the west coast?? The only thing I was really thinking about was Insanity. I know there's much more though (I don't have a particular style in mind) Also, they live around the Fairfeld/Caldwell/West Caldwell/ Verona area. Any suggestions would be awesome!
http://www.seekabrew.com/ this will tell you who we get you don't, then you can kind of go from there.. founders stuff is excellent, great lakes.. maybe some flower power from ithaca, insanity is a good one, perpetual ipa from Troegs, maybe some flying fish exit series if you can find some.. idk.. there is a good smattering of stuff
I should rephrase the question to: what is everyone seeing on the shelves local to those towns? There's too many breweries that don't distribute here for me to go through them all. Two specifics I'll ask, though, are nugget nectar on the shelves? And what from founders is stocked? I'd also like to get my hands on some choklat... Thanks
Don't think you'll find any NN on shelves anymore, not sure you would want to either as it would be kind of old at this point. Founders you'll find Dirty Bastard, Red's Rye, Centennial, probably some Cerise still around, Devil Dancer is the next seasonal that will be around shortly, and the one off backstage series Frangelic Mountain Brown which will probably be out come 2nd or 3rd week but you'll probably either need to get really lucky on that or get on a list at a store which oftens requires having a relationship already with somebody at said store... also you should be able to find some Porter... which of the DB, RR, Cent would be my fav or the regular beers from Founders we see If you like NN or want to try some other troegs try the Perpetual IPA, just became a year round brew for Troegs and is pretty tasty, it's not NN but still a good brew
shoprite liquors in west caldwell is the best bet if they dont want to travel far but the selection isnt that good. If they drive to Totowa, wine and beverage depot (about 20minutes away) has a great craft beer selection and sells a lot of singles/bombers. They wont find anything by Great Lakes unless they go to the wine library in Springfield. Total Wine in West Orange(also about 20minutes away) doesnt have that awesome of a selection (they are known for having greating prices but i dont see that with craft beer) but they list the whole inventory and prices on there website
Thanks for the responses guys, much appreciate it. Oh man shop rite Liquors and cloverleaf....man I miss those places
Nugget Nectar may still be sitting around and its still drinking fine. The last batch that was sent out came in Mid April so a little over 2 months old is just fine for NN.
