Hey, just getting into trading and was wondering what is locally available here in NJ that might get some trading action.

As of right now I have Weyerbacher Riserva(3) and a 4 pack of Insanity? Would that be tradable?

We get a lot of stuff in NJ, http://www.seekabrew.com/# is a great site to use to see what we get compared to other places. This will help you when you post an ISO. For instance, ask for a beer that you can't get from a state that doesn't get Weyerbacher.

As far as the beers you have, I'm sure you can find someone who is interested, it just really depends on what you're looking for in return. Using the Wants/Gots on the beer's page is not perfect, but it can help to judge how many people may be looking for a certain beer compared to how many people have it for trade. You should probably be able to land beers with similar ratios.

Yeah Weyerbacher gets relatively limited distro, I think there'd be someone interested in some Insanity, I know I would if I weren't in the distribution area. Troegs gets very limited distribution so that comes to mind...also Flying Fish, though I don't know that any FF would yield much, save for maybe a new offering from the Exit series

Those beers will get you plenty of offers. Post a trade offer in the beer trading section of the forum. FT: Riserva/Insanity, ISO: Offers. Post just like that and see what people are willing to trade in return for those.

NJ gets incredible distribution. You'll notice the forum tends to get overcrowded with discussion around whales and semi-limited releases, but when it comes down to it, most trades are for accessible stuff. What is sitting around in piles at a store near you is exotic and rare to somebody 2000 miles away.

I am in VA and similarly am not sure what I have that would be bait for west coasters (looking for PtE). I've been to the site that shows what gets distributed where, but I am not sure what's popular enough to bait a trade.

pay attention to limited releases that hit shelves, NJ gets a bunch of stuff that's definitely tradeable. typically, stuff from founders, troegs, firestone walker, terrapin, and weyerbacher could be good bait.

you're also within (somewhat) reasonable striking distance of brewery-only releases at captain lawrence, weyerbacher, troegs, southampton, and a couple others. that's another level of hysteria though that you may or may not want to get involved in.
