Just 30 minutes ago my Alerts tab went blank. When I hover over the Alerts tab it says I have no new alerts. I had someone reply to a trade post and it didn't show up. My inbox tab displays a red number for BMs. Not with my alerts tab though. Help!
Since last week I no longer get alerts when people reply to something I posted. Two different machines, both running win 7/firefox latest release. Cleared cookies and history, just me or anyone else having this issue?
I didn't even see an alert that anyone replied to this thread and that was like 10 mins ago, not life ending but just wanted to clear up if it was just me.
yea my alert preferences are all set so its not that....i get an alert when i get a message sent to me, get quoted or someone likes a post...but havent gotten an alert on threads i commented on(or even started) in weeks...kinda strange
Seems to me I still get alerts for messages and quotes - but never for additional replies to threads I've commented in - I'm assuming this was an intentional update since I never 'follow' posts.
At some point mine changed such that posting a comment no longer automatically subscribes me to the thread, that's probably what's going on for you. If you want an alert to a reply, hit "watch thread," then you'll get the alerts. The option to change it back is under "Preferences." (not "Alert Preferences")
I did and they are all set exactly how they were when I joined, but like several people above have stated, alerts are not coming when watched threads are posted in.
From the information that I've read on the system: Alerts are sent out once per unread thread. So you don't get Alerts on every post, but on the first post after you've read it. This behavior is as designed.
I refresh the Beer Talk forum and see a thread I am watching go to the top of the page from a new reply, and I wont get an alert. When I click on it, there is only 1 new reply, which means I have read the one prior to it. Not sure if that is by design, but it happens more often than not. Not the biggest deal in the world, but there is something odd by the hit or miss nature of the alerts. I understand if i get an alert that a thread is updated and don't check the thread, any further replies after that wont alert me. That is fine.
I've checked my Alerts settings, and all relevant are checked. I'm not getting Alerts on some threads. Usually this is an Alert that someone has commented in a thread I'm watching (having commented in). Yes, I'm talking about the first comment posted after I've viewed the thread. It's been going on for at least a week. So I do think there is some issue.
This is what has not been happening for me (sometimes, but not consistently at all) Maybe it's because... Is it only once? Once ever?
@Todd - I just checked a thread that I started (http://www.beeradvocate.com/communi...enlarge-rather-than-link.156142/#post-2195261) and there were more replies since last I checked - in fact, even after the first responses, I didn't receive notifications.
