Trying to think of any Amarillo-only beers I've had... Can't really think of one except Gumballhead and it's obviously not a hop bomb, but when fresh I do love the aroma/flavor. Looking forward to Noble's offering...

Okay. Not sure how it will compare to Nelson or Citra Showers. A different hop with a different nose and taste. So maybe we can't compare to Nelson or Citra. I know a lot of you preferred Citra over the Nelson Showers. I was the opposite, even thou I like Citra hops a bit more than Nelson hops. I'm looking forward to Simcoe. Mosaic should be interesting!
Any word on bottle limits at the brewery? 2 bottles again?

Nelson and Citra weren't different hops with different aromas and flavors?

I love Amarillo. Bringing mules for this release.

I dry hopped a saison last year and the flavor profile worked beautifully with the yeast.

Just saw Societe's latest Bachelor release was Amarillo... wish I still lived close to them!

I wouldn't think that your statement will win you any beer advocating awards anytime soon. Dragging along others for the sole purpose of getting more than the brewery allocates is your choice, going on a world wide social media site to brag about it is a very interesting decision.

Amarillo on it's own can kinda be a weird hop. Gives off a hop candy kind of flavor with some sweet citrus astringency. Too bad these beers don't make their way up north. I'm curious.

In my experience Amarillo is best cut with something else more aggressive like Simcoe (Duet) or Citra (KRBC Citra).

Valid points. I am very curious about this release, but the way Evan has been constructing these Shower releases something tells me this one could be as stellar as the two previous releases, of course this is all predicated that there will be any bottles left after WortCraft and all his mules have horded as much as he can get away with.

    Cheers,

If you go way back wasn't Stone 9th Annuversary an Amarillo Bomb, if not actually 100%?

Can't wait for this release! Just ordered up a bottle of the Amarillo Ninja from Pipeworks to do a side by side.

My question is if you had to choose between the release of showers or Beachwoods amalgamator(the day before), which one? Afraid Beachwood will sell out on the day of the release.

I hope to pick up 4 bottles of Amalgamator on tuesday and 2 bottles of A Showers on weds. Would like to compare Amalgamator from bottle to draft/growler fill. Curious on how Amarillo Showers will taste. After comparing N Showers to ABC Nelson, I still prefer my ABC Nelson. But I like both. Two different beers in the nose, texture and taste.

The next frontier of hop geekiness is going to be realizing that not all hops of the same varietal will produce the same results (see: grapes and wine)

Any other CA IPA's that are single-hopped with Amarillo?

I couldn't agree more. Different suppliers have different quality of hops. There are exceptionally shitty Citra hops out there and absolutely magical Citra as well. Do people just buy Pinot Noir and know it's gonna be awesome because they love Pinot Noir? Hell no!
