Why is there no category for a Belgian stout on this site. I recently went to a brewery that served one and was curious, is a Belgian stout too close to some other dark Belgian styles? Or is it just too new and unpopular to have its own category?

I'd too guess that there are too few around.

I've had a few. They certainly are a distinct style to me.

I would enter the beer as a Belgian Strong Dark Ale - there are a fair amount of "styles" out there that are not exactly listed on BA but there are enough styles already and most beers fit into one or the other of the categories.

I have had more than a few labelled as Belgian stouts. Retains the Stout flavor profile with Belgian yeast to add some complexity in terms of dark fruits and spiciness. It's very hit or miss for me, personally. It's not exactly a BSDA, and not quite a Quad either.

I'd like to see it listed but there are so many variants of styles that could be listed and if every one of them was listed it would get out of hand quickly.
