As are some neckbeards waiting in lines. Not singling you out at all. BTW, I do have a neckbeard, occasionally wait on long lines and don't (currently) have a dog.

While I have no problem with any brewery that decides not to allow dogs, this thread is a useful mechanism for determining which of you people have souls.

I'll take the company of someone's dog over someone's kid every time.

If having a soul means I have to put up with a filthy arse licking animal trying to sniff my balls or lick my face with is dog food shit breath, then take my soul, please.

Let's all agree on this, well behaved kids and dogs are fine. Shitty kids and dogs aren't.

Nah, I'd prefer no dogs, no matter how they behave.

    Fine.

Can we all agree that beer is good? Just looking for a shred of positivity in the New England forum.

I like dogs just fine, I just like decency and manners more. Having a pet used to mean it's something you and your family had to deal with. Now it's apparently the dog owner who's inconvenienced whenever the world doesn't bend over backwards to cater to its 4-legged child.

Honestly, I agree with this. I love my dog, but she also doesn't have to go everywhere. With breweries, I'm generally not super into having dogs there, but if a brewery is having an outdoor event, I think that's a bit different and it's more OK.

You obviously aren't a true New Englander. We are as cynical and sarcastic as the NE winter nights are cold and long.

Let's summarize this thread, shall we? Pick one since every possible opinion has already been expressed.

    1. I love dogs, they should be allowed at breweries.

    2. I love dogs, they should be allowed OUTSIDE at breweries.

    3. Each brewery should make their own policy. Legal stuff, man.

    4. I have an allergy/dislike for dogs, no dogs at breweries!
    4a. Kids suck too!
4b. Wait. Kids at breweries are good ever since I had my own kids, but before that I didn't like kids at breweries.
4c. As long as kids are well-behaved, it's cool. Same with dogs!

    5. I think breweries should do what's best for them; I'm cool with whatever decision they make. Because anyone who DOES NOT own a brewery can't understand both the social and legal ramifications.

Your point assumes people use common sense, which there seems to be a lack of in today’s society, especially among the hipster brewery crowd.

This is certainly a good point but I can't help but wonder if, for a place that sells alcohol, every other potential liability concern comes in a distant second.

I've kind of always wondered how breweries, bars, etc. can get any kind of affordable insurance in the first place.

This overlooks the fact that a private business owner has made a decision that they like the presence of dogs. That necessarily means they have made a conscious decision that they are willing to forego your business to achieve that end if necessary. It's their call, so you could flip things on their head and say that you are asking the owners to change their own preferences to suit your whims.

And I say this as someone who loves dogs and has brought them to breweries but is honestly surprised they're allowed into so many.

My cats run from family entering my house, can only imagine the freaking out that would happen at a brewery. That's why I can't have dogs, they'd give me so much damn self esteem.

Insurance for breweries is less expensive than you probably think, although brewery owners probably think otherwise.

Bars, on the other hand, not so much.

I LOVE dogs. Huge fan. But I'm not really sure why people would feel the need to bring them to a brewery. I don't hate it, its just odd to me.
