Received a service call that one of our accounts had four faucets that wouldn't pour. Can anyone guess why?
Haha...too many jolly rancher shots before they tried to self troubleshoot? I never get foam at 26f either....
Can we take cracks at which 4 are the frozen ones? I'm going with Lite, Coors, Stella and a toss up between Blue Moon and Dos Equis.
I was so close to sending you a note when I saw that posted earlier. Well, at least you get a full pint serving. The unfrozen lines. Cheers.
Doug, the Frozen Four (College hockey fans will get the reference) were: Dos XX 805 Stella Lite The name of the establishment is (literally) 26°. The owner named it after installing the Blizzard System and refuses to budge on raising the temperature of the glycol. My solution? Turn the six on her sign upside down and rename the place 29°. It was shot down in flames.
So, after several days of taking temperature readings from the faucets I have ascertained that some pour colder than others due to imperfections in the Blizzard cold plate. Swapped the Stella & Lagunitas lines and then flip-flopped 805 with Blue Moon. Both poured for 24 hours without freezing. Now to tackle the Dos XX and Lite.
Now there is a finesse solution! How about putting his thermocouple that is giving the display the 26 degree reading in the coldest part of the box too?
The client paid good money for this contraption. What a shame. Now they are paying a technician to use a thermometer. Do you think they will take down their claim that their systems have never been pulled and replaced? You mean you can't reliably serve beer at 26 degrees? Yet one more gimmick that's not ready for the market. Or physics. Cheers. Edit. We achieved 28 at a place called Bleachers in Watkins Glen (surprisingly good sports bar). We were very happy with that and figured 28 is cold enough. Now I know for certain.
Bill, I wouldn't blame the Blizzard guys for this issue. All the blame goes to an owner silly enough to name the place 26° and expecting to (as you pointed out) cheat physics. Now the cheap, plastic faucets Blizzard uses? That is an entirely different story. Just up the street is Heroes Restaurant & Brewing and their Blizzard is dialed in nicely at 28.2°
