I dig them. But for some reason only in the summer. But, Im a seasonal drinker.

This is actually a good style to have for people who are not craft drinkers.

I just recalled another tasty version of a German brewed Kolsch that I had on draft: Sunner unfiltered Kolsch. I posted about this beer in a past thread:

Sunner unfiltered Kolsch (which is labeled as Sunner Kellerbier for the bottled products):

    “Sünner Kellerbier

By the standards of the Kölsch Könvention, only filtered, bright beer can be called "Kölsch". However, when it's taken directly from the fermenter, unfiltered and with a soft, natural carbonation, it can be spectacular!

We offer the Sünner Kellerbier only occasionally, so jump at it when you see it. You'll find it slightly yeasty, more bitter and even drier than the everyday Kölsch.”

    Cheers!

COAST 32/50 is a phenomenal example of the style. Any of you SC folks that want to trade some my way, please BM me!

Another of my favorite Kolsch beers is Alaskan Amber! If you have not had it fresh, you should really get your rear end to Alaska sometime and try it. Fantastic beer! I cannot get it locally, so I get it when I go to the West Coast and I have a homebrew recipe that is very close to the real deal. Try to keep it on tap, but it evaporates fast? Odd! ;>

The Kolsch yeast is one of a those yeasts that provides a lot of flavor to the style. I really enjoy the flavors it imparts to a well lagered beer! Cheers all!

Alaskan Amber is an Altbier which is very different from a Kolsch.

    Cheers!

Love me some Kolsch! Worthy Kolsch is my favorite US example. Those Oregonians (Oregonites?) got a knack for german style beers (along with other styles of course)!

There is no better beer to drink when you are sitting in a bar with a bunch of people singing La Paloma in German.

    3 Floyds/Sunking Slacktivist was a nice drink

Had a Calumet Queen a few days ago. It isnt my favorite style but those were enjoyable. The Slacktivist was something I'd buy again though

Some people will cringe at the sight of this, but I thought this beer was very good.

The flagship brew (Dirty Blonde) of one of our local breweries (Saddlebock, Springdale Ar.) is a Kolsch. My current favorite.

That's my exact feeling about the kolsch. I like them (including Reissdorf), but I've yet to be overwhelmed by one. It feels like sacrilege to say it, too, because German and Czech pilseners are probably my favorite styles, and I love several other styles that are often overshadowed (see English pale ale family).

Sierra Nevada's kolsch keeps getting mentioned, so I'm going to look for a summer variety pack on my next beer run.

My local brewery did a firkin of their kolsch dry-hopped with Mandarina Bavaria hops last night. It was as magical as any DIPA or imperial stout. I am just now recovering from trying to drain the cask. It is just a style to enjoy in large quantities with good people having a fun time.

If you are interested in it, it's certainly worth trying bottled Kolsch. It may not be ideal, but such is life outside of Cologne. Having a Kolsch-style beer in the US is always a little bit of a crap shoot. The domestic attempts can be all over the place, and the German imports (whether on draft or in a bottle) can be a beaten up mess. Don't dismiss them based on the Harpoon. Regardless if it's faithful or not (or ethical or not), I find that beer to be overly lemony and unpleasant.

COAST nails it to the point where I was talking to German tourists visiting Charleston from Cologne and they said it was the best Kölsch they'd had. Absolutely a world class beer and likely the best within the style.

Picked this up tonight by chance. I know it's an American twist on a traditional Kolsch but I can't recommend it enough for the style. Tastes like juicy mango hard candy. Very nice hop presence. Smell is like the taste, juicy mango.

Wow. Great brew. So impressed and easily my favorite Kolsch beer

I try a kolsch whenever I get the opportunity! They're a great style that doesn't get the love it deserves.

Bar crawling in Köln and fresh kölsch is hard to beat. Muhlen was my favorite.
