Is it true that Dark Intrigue will not be made again? This is per a buddy. I drank one of my two bottles of this today and was not very impressed. I certainly would never buy an additional bottle of this again, but since I already have a second one, I am debating keeping it for another day with some age versus ISO awaying it for something new.

    Can anyone confirm?

My friends and I bought one of there barrels for homebrewing. They sold them all at the last release and said it was the LAST. But who knows.

First batch was less than stellar. Second batch wasn't half bad, but I think it just wasn't worth it for the brewery.. Too many problems, and not a high enough profit margin. They have said it was their last release, and I don't see it happening any time in the future.

Thanks for all the info everyone. I'll sit on this for awhile. Not that I see what Age can do to it. It's probably the least "barrel flavored" of any BA beer I have ever had.

I also heard that they were not planning on doing it again, that was unfortunate as I enjoyed the couple of bottles I was able to get my hands on (we had it with dessert both times and it really complemented the sweetness of the desserts).

Despite some pretty average reviews and threads on here, I really enjoyed my bottle.

I didn't get to try batch 1 but heard less than stellar reviews on it, I liked batch 2 a lot though. I'm a bit bummed they won't be doing it again but there are a ton of other BA stouts out there to choose from.

I thought batch 1 and 2 tasted very similar.
    Both good
Tastes very close to Frog Island's Devil in the Details.

By the way I have both batches if you want to do side by side.

I picked up a bottle of the newest batch at Capones for $19, thinking it was still pretty limited and I'd never see it again. My local Wegmans STILL has some on the shelf for $12, three months later. Yep....still haven't drank it though.

I've never had the first batch but had the new one fresh this year and thought beer was pretty mediocre. Can't say I'll miss it.

Which batch did you bring to Kuhnhenn's Winter Solstice? Whichever one it was I thought it was a little rough around the edges but still a really solid beer. Thanks again for sharing that one.

it makes me laugh how i can still buy this on the shelf for 14 bucks months after the release yet hundreds of people lined up just to get it for more expensive than that per bottle AND it was selling on ebay for like 60-80 bucks that first week.

    people.

It shouldn't really be surprising though. Instant gratification, this generation and society in general.

It's the plague of craft beer hoarding. Those people probably did not realize there were a ridiculous 50,000 or so bottles of this made and put into wide distribution.
