Going to New Orleans this weekend and we are taking a 1-year-old - How do you all feel about a sunday afternoon in New Orleans eateries/beer bars with the baby? I am not talking French Quarter, more like Garden district - especially eyeing the avenue pub and stein's. Can anyone whose been there tell me the general atmosphere and if kids are welcome? She is largely immobile/sits on a lap in a highchair still. Also, as context in Cleveland where we are from, we take her to Fathead's and the Ohio City bars during the day no problem...
    Opinions/suggestions appreciated!

Stein's you're definitely fine. I don't think the baby is even allowed in Avenue Pub cuz they're strictly 21+ and, even if they make an exception, they allow smoking downstairs and upstairs is only open between 5 and 12. Do not go to Bulldog since not only do they allow smoking and there's no way to get to the outdoor area without going through clouds of the stuff, but also the clientele is usually made up of annoying boisterous douches. Definitely not kid friendly and I'm pretty sure they're also strictly 21+. You want an inside tip? Go to Ancora on Freret street. They only have 12 taps but every beer they have is top-notch (except for the obligatory macro tap which is usually High Life), the Italian-style food is excellent and the atmosphere is very welcoming and kid friendly. Oh and, beware, if you're planning on making a trip to NOLA's taproom, you can't bring the baby because I know for a fact there's a zero tolerance policy on under 21 patrons (I work there) but that's Louisiana law's doing, not NOLA's. The irony there is, unlike Bulldog and Ave Pub, there's no smoking in the taproom. Yeah, Louisiana has really ******ed and outdated laws and, as a non-smoker, I hate that there's no Clean Air Act.

We hit Ancora for dinner earlier today with our two kids (1 and 3). Great place for kids I think. Great food. Had Old Raspy, Monks Cafe, Stillwater, Ommegang and more on tap.
