    Hello there!!

I am new to the boards and new to the whole "fancy" beer/cellaring beer/trading beer thing. I am consindering building a crate/bench to store beer in my basement. the temp down there hovers around 60 deg. Do you think storing them in a dark crate would be a good idea? Any suggestions of things I can add to the crate? (vents, etc...) Should I scrap the crate idea, and look for something else? (freezer/fridge, etc...) I am very excited to be involved with this, I love all types of beer and look forward to learning all sorts of things from this board. Any help is greatly appreciated!!

    Thank you!!

Basement in NY is fine and hidden from light is good. Whatever you feel you want to do go ahead. I built a closet under my stairs 10' x 3' and have a shelving unit in there and 2 wine racks as well as my homebrew equipment. My basement is a walkout so it's not ideal in the hotter summer months but work with what you got.

Feel out what the temp would be before you spend the time and money building it. Not sure how to do that, but it's a good idea IMO.
