So here is the deal I've made ~7-8 batches and bottled them all. I want to make an IPA, keg it, and travel 3 hours to a party So here is the issue. Gonna get a keg system (suggestions welcome) and not too sure how to use it. (Pretty sure it won't go into a commercial kegarator, right?). What would you recommend besides not overdoing it on the Crystal Malt? What would be the best case scenario to deliver quality suds to my friends in order to celebrate graduating law school? Thanks in advance for your help!
I'd bottle it, honestly. If you wanted to do a keg, you're welcome to try to chill it, carb it, and move it. You'll want to jumper from one keg to another. It's to keep the sediment out of your keg so that you can transport it and not have it all shaken after the move. So, you'll need two empty kegs to do this. This is my attempt to talk you out of it. We'll get into jumpers later if I can't.
Are you GOOD at making and bottling beer? If so, I am reminded of some of the best advice ever uttered on any forum, any subject... If it ain't broke, don't fix it. An IPA has so much forgiveness as it is, make your best recipe and do your best bottling job. Make sure all bottles are plenty well conditioned and in perfect drinking shape. The exact time which this will be is dependent on you and your techniques. Use what you know, what you've learned, and what you know works to showcase what you're good at. You're not yet good at kegging, hoss. * *edited to add
