Hi. I just got a keg system and am trying to carbonate a keg of holiday porter.

A lot of what I read is to leave it at 30PSI for a few days and reduce down to serving PSI and I should be fine. Not sure if that's the case but I tried it.

I ran into a problem though - I can't get more than 10PSI of pressure from the CO2 tank. Screw all the way in, etc...doesn't matter. I checked for leaks and reconnected and did it again. Still, only 10 PSI.

I do only have about 800PSI in the CO2 tank though. I went to the store to fill it and they ran out of gas so they just gave me what they had left for free. Is this the problem or is it something else?

    Thanks

Bad regulator. Or bad regulator low pressure gauge.

Edit: co2 tank valve (the big wheel) is open, right?

Yes it is. The regulator is brand new out of the box. I guess I have to call Northern Brewer tomorrow.

Does the adjustment have a straight slot for a screw driver with a nut underneath? If so back the nut off farther towards the screw head. That will give you more travel on the regulator, so more pressure.

    ditka311 and VikeMan like this.

This was the problem and I fixed it now. Thanks!

Now that I got my keg system up and running (with a little help from some i-friends) I can't believe how much better it is than from the bottle. Need to get a few spare kegs now.
