Noob question about stouts

    Right, but Founders which seems to be the archetype for the "style", is a coffee oatmeal stout. (Since we're discussing a style that isn't really a style its kind of a moot point)

    Generally, a breakfast stout is when coffee ruins what would have been an otherwise very nice beer.

    Agreed, but my point is that the Oatmeal may be in the recipe for other reasons and incidental to it being called "Breakfast."
