I'm being sent on an errand by my wife tonight to pick up a stroller - might make a detour to swing by Noon Whistle to try this Let's Gummy - it sounds great.

I'll buy you a beer if you intentionally skip the stroller and walk into your house with 2 crowlers instead.

Somehow I think it's cheaper for him to pay for that beer himself as opposed to paying for a divorce.

And I'll share those two crowlers with you later in the night when I crash on your couch ...

this new gummy is really, really solid. Somewhat of a more "bitey" aftertaste (that's my thing though) but really well-balanced. I think it beats the pants off of Jive.

You there now? How late will you be there? I'll be swinging in around 8.

Hoping to head over after I get my girls down. Won't be until 9'ish though if I'm lucky.

Found out they're brewing a collab on Sunday: it's a NE IPA with mango. Wish I remembered with whom they're brewing, but it sounded awesome.

was there tonight from about 9:30-10:20. drank two pours of let's gummy and got 2 crowlers of it and a crowler of mosaic. let's gummy is pretty damn phenomenal. sounds like they will be canning different variants june/july for brewery releases only.

haha, I was going to come post in here about that ...

So, I really haven't said much about Noon Whistle because until last night I had not had the chance to try much of their NE style stuff (Peach Boyee and Gummy Vortex). I stopped in last night and got to try Jive Gummy (excellent), Mosaic Gummy (outstanding), and Let's Gummy (a big meh). Overall Noon Whistle's NE style IPAs are really well done. I think that they lack a bit in the mouthfeel - they've got the smooth feel down, but I feel like it needs to be a bit more full? Just my .2 cents.

ok, now Let's Gummy. No, I didn't care for it - but I blame the cryo hops. I got this vegetal taste in the beer that I just did not like. Not like a broccoli flavor, but vegetal in an excessive green vegetation flavor - if that makes any sense? I know you liked it, so Im guessing you didn't get that flavor. I was talking with the bartender about it and he said that he's gotten similar flavors from the cryo hops before. Other than that flavor, It was in line with the rest of the series.

I grabbed a crowler of the mosaic gummy for this weekend - I could drink that one all day.

Also, an interesting tidbit, the bartender said that they will be canning a NE style IPA in the near future - they are just trying to narrow down which recipe they like and which one will can best. Interestingly, he said that they most likely won't distribute the NE style cans, but only sell them out of the brewery. He said that with the live yeast in them they want to control the storage of them up to selling them to a customer and not trust stores with them ...

    Terrible news! :grimacing:

In all seriousness, I can see that, but it's a shame. They make very solid stuff, I think it would do them a lot of good to get their NE beer out to distribution (not that it's hurting places like Treehouse, but still).

As I've said many times, I'm a huge fan of the no distro model. One of the reasons was listed above. The brewery can control the beer. If it goes to a place like Beer Temple or Capones, it's going to sit on the floor for hours to days. Tree House, Veil, Tired Hands, Trillium, and Monkish all sell cans from their own places and all keep and sell the beer cold. Definitely the right move for Noon Whistle.

Ive been out there a couple of times and it's great. Probably going to drag the girlfriend out there today to try Let's Gummy.

Honestly, I'd be fine with them pulling a Trillium and putting stuff on tap at local places (and occasionally distro-ing bottles/cans/whatever). My argument isn't that it's best for the beer itself; it's that it's best for me.

I do think they'd probably (key word) blow up quicker if they got cans out to distro, but I understand that not every brewery wants that ASAP, and that for some it's a logistical nightmare.

I don't know, I feel like brewery-only IPAs build hype much faster than if they distro. The word might get out slower, but once it does I think demand will accelerate faster as it seems like difficulty to obtain makes beers taste better to a lot of people.
