It's funny, I hate bitterness in general, but I find that in NE IPAs, I want a little. I found Gummy Vortex to be TOO bitter, but it was still delicious (and not as cloying as if there'd be no bitterness at all).

My favorite stuff from the region/style is full, very hoppy, and has just enough bite at the end that I don't feel like I'm drinking fruit juice. Examples: Focal Banger, Fort Point, The Juice is Loose.

Noon Whistle's irish (coffee) stout is hitting stores tomorrow ... not as sexy as their NE IPAs but Im looking forward to it.

If it's not neon orange, what's the point of drinking it?

    ()

Good point, and as an Irishman myself, I should've been more sensitive to the plight of my fair-skinned/haired people.

Given this is an Irish stout, there should be a ridiculous amount of inventory.

Was there last night. 4 packs of Irish Coffee Bernie were at the brewery. Four 12oz. cans for $7. Bartender said draft should be on very soon. They also still had 32 oz. crowlers of passion fruit facesmack for $12. Love that beer.

Completely agree with your comment. Loved Facesmack when I was there last weekend. Should of taken it to go.

That image of Jive Gummy looks like puke in a glass. I think we've gone too far.

I'm not sure if you're being serious, but that's not what I thought at all.

I don't know about puke, but my initial reaction was, "eh, looks like a lot of sediment/floaties toward the bottom of that glass..."

I'm going to try it for sure, as I have yet to be disappointed by their NE Style IPA's.

However, I did try the Irish Coffee Bernie and I was totally underwhelmed. I don't know if they were going for some of the cream taste that's in an Irish Coffee, but there was something on the nose, as well as the taste, that I did not enjoy. I didn't get much coffee flavor out of it - there was some, but not a ton. I also had a Hipsters vs. Lumberjacks and again, I was unimpressed. There was a HUGE vanilla presence in there, and it honestly tasted like a beer that shouldn't have vanilla in it. Both were enough for me to probably not order another one again. Just one man's opinion though...

Very serious. Its well known that I'm not the biggest fan of the style, but that looks like about the worst I've seen. May just be the lighting of the photo, but that's more along the line of sludge than haze.

Dunno about puke ... I will refrain from getting into what puke tends to look like - but it does look sludgy or smoothie like to me. However, they had another version of the picture (more zoomed out - not as pixely) in their emailed newsletter that looked normal (compared to other examples of the style).

Im more disappointed to here the less than stellar reviews on the Irish Coffee Bernie - I was hopeful for that one ...
