Are there any styles that you refuse to buy again, based on bad past experience or you just don't like the style?
For me it is sours, wild ale and IPAs.

I'm with you on the sours and wild ales. I don't find them appealing.

Never. There are certain beers I’ll write off for the future but not an entire style. Cheers.

Keep trying. They get better especially the IPAs. I didn't like them either until I had a 120 Minute IPA. Dogfish Head. Now I can't get enough. The Juiciest Double, Triple and Quad IPAs up to 12 1/2 percent abv.

    Agreed, 100%

Even as someone who enjoys spicy food and grades Thai restaurants on how authentic their hot is - chile beers are vile.

Brut IPA. I'm not much of a fan of the really smokey smoke beers either. Deftly done it can be interesting.

Refusing to "buy" and refusing to "drink" are entirely different questions to me. I will try anything....even more than once. However, I will never ever buy any AAL for my own consumption because there are just far too many other beers readily available that I know I like a lot more. One particular beer I will never drink again even if handed to me for free is Flying Horse Royal Lager from India. They should have called it Flying Horse Piss.

I've tried all the styles and would try any again. That said, I'm not a fan of barleywines, though I like wheatwines. I used to despise sours and IPAs, until I forced myself to try more. Still don't like ultra-bitter IPAs.

    No .
In every style, including the dreaded AALs, I've found something I like, even when expecting the opposite. I.e. , never say "Never" .
That said, non-sour fruited beers , especially those that are non-citrus, that I could finish, let alone like, have been very few & far between.
(Keep those grapes & gojiberries out of my pilsner, thank you. :stuck_out_tongue: )

Gotta try Ed's Cave Creek Chili Beer at least once though, if for nothing else than to make (almost) all the other beers taste better. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Yeah, in almost all cases it would be better to add your own, when drinking. Used to love S.Tier 2XPRESSO, with a few drops of datil pepper sauce. Wish they'd bring that one back.

    A couple exceptions :
    K2 Brothers Jalapeno Cream Ale

I'm firmly in the camp of I'll buy any style. I don't like to limit myself I guess. I'm not a huge fan of Witbiers but I'll still buy them if I'm in the right mood. It's funny seeing people who despise smoked beers while I regularly drink all the Schlenkerla Rauchbiers

Chile beers, even if they are part of BBA Mexican Hot Chocolate Stouts or anything similar. I just don't like the heat.

I'll stay away from Hefeweizens too because I don't like the clove/banana thing, but I'll usually buy one per year just to convince myself that I still don't like them.

This is my reasoning for buying stuff I usually don’t like, as well. The internal conflict; “was it really that bad???”

Smoked beers seem to be very polarizing.

I enjoy smoked beers that have a campfire aroma/flavor but I am not a fan of those beers that taste like smoked meats.

    Cheers!

I like the idea of pumpkin beers more that I actually like pumpkin beers, just because I love pumpkin pies. But I keep trying new ones. The pumpkin beers I thought were OK were either BBA or pumpkin spice. Just say no to squash beers, which is what too many pumpkin beers are.

I was down on chili beers, too. Then I put a pork roast in a crockpot and poured a couple of chili beers in there and let it cook all day. Chili beers are awesome...in a crockpot with pork loin or pork butt!

When I first got into craft, all I knew is that I liked "some dark beers". I quickly decided I loved most stouts, until I tried a Dragon's Milk BBA Stout, cold and from the bottle. Based on that experience, I swore off BA stouts, until I posted about it here, and was advised to drink all beers from a glass, and to let stouts warm a bit. BBA/RBA Stouts became my favorite after that. Not trying to talk you into them though.

I have not run into any styles I will completely slam the door on. Like most people I have my druthers, and pretty consistently I can say that the Berliner weisse is a style I am not overly fond of, with most pumpkin pie spice beers pretty close behind. Looks like quite a few folks don't care for the hot pepper beers, but I like quite a few of them if done with some common sense versus the ham-handed some is good more is better approach.
