Anyone planning to attend brewfest tomorrow (5-9)? Sorry if this is a rehash of another post.

Is there a brewery/beer list anywhere? I'm going to need a little more than things I can pick up anytime in the area to draw me in.

The list is on the link I posted . Click on breweries on the left . Nothing that looks too special from here but some of the German ones may be good .

They have the brewery list on the link above. I always enjoy the Spring beerfest as the list is usually a bit more impressive, this one always seems to have a bit less participation.
Hope you enjoy though, let us know how it goes.

Well la-de-da. But seriously, I know what you mean. I don't know the specific beers, only the breweries. Some good ones though: Aleworks, Goose Island, Southern Tier, several from the Motherland. I think the main thing is just the Beer Advocacy . . . ness of the event. To meet new BAs and pass the good word to others.

I mean I get that. I went to 11th Annual Virginia Beer Festival this summer with some local BAs, there was some decent stuff, but really most was shelf beer, I just want our area to be taken more seriously. When these breweries comes they don't bring anything special, they bring their most common stuff. I want our area to get more respect and want breweries to bring their A game.

I mean I know they have to appeal to a large audience, but they also need something for beer geeks.

I hear ya . Would like to see some special stuff . One of problems is they are mostly done by the distributers , not the breweries .

Well that would explain it then, so are we not able to get breweries to show up?

Thats what it seems like . I was told that by someone but can't remember who . But I believe it . I need to visit more breweries . Beach brewing had a tasty Citra pale ale a while back . I tried it at Lynnhaven Pub but I need to hit the brewery .

Yeah, I've thought the same thing. I was proud of Sixpoint for bringing Spice of Life - Simcoe this summer. It was the only non shelf beer I found there. It was good too.
