Hey all. Just wanted to ask your suggestions/ opinion on my first brew. This is an APA from the Brooklyn Brew Shop. This has been in my cooler for more than 50hours already. I dont see any bubbling, just these sediments on top. Is this fine? Also, I totally forgot about the temperature so for the first 24 hours, the temperature was around 25-30c (77-86F). I just put it in an ice bath after that, now it's sitting at 22c (72F). Will this be alright? Should I let go off the blow off now and switch to airlock, as prescribed in the instructions card? Thanks a lot.

Looks like your beer had a vigorous fermentation during the first 24 hours since the temp was so high. Next time I'd try to avoid temps that hot during the initial ferment (at least for an APA). Keep it in a cooler after pitching the yeast and don't go above 70F.

Yes switch to airlock now, no need for the blowoff tube anymore. Keep it at 70-72 for the next few weeks before bottling.

You’ll be fine. Your beer might have just a little bit of unintended fruitiness or sourness to it, but probably nothing terrible. RDWHAHB

Welcome to the BA site, summer_ph, and to this great homebrewing hobby. When you say "Tropics' where does that mean you live?

My advice is to not rush this beer the rest of the way. Allow extra conditioning time in the fermenter to give the yeast extra time to try to clean up any potential unwanted flavors that can be caused by fermenting too warm. Two more weeks will likely be helpful before you bottle the beer.
