Give Foothills (Winston-Salem) a look. They have some very good offerings...seeing double, jade, sexual chocolate, etc.

NoDa Hop Drop & Roll, Wicked Weed Freak and Gluten Freek, Foothills BBA Sexual Chocolate and Jade, Olde Hickory Lindley Park and Event Horizon, DR/FH/OHB Olde Rabbit's Foot, and Pisgah's Chocolatized Vortex II is my list probably. Wicked Weed's sours are up there too, but only on tap IMO.

Wicked Weed Oblivion has been my favorite NC beer so far. I really liked NoDa's pale ale Jam Session, too. I haven't ever seen it mentioned and it didn't get great reviews, so maybe it is just me. I also liked the local Appalachian Mountain Brewery's Saison- Belay on V5 although they burned through this batch already.

Great thread, great timing. I'll be passing through Charlotte on Thursday with time for one run at a bottle shop. What are the best beers I could reasonably expect to be on the shelf?

(sorry if this is thread jacking… seems pretty close to the main topic… thanks OP!)

Pisgah's Nitro Stout is high on my list, along with Highland Brewing's Cold Mountain. Wicked Weed's Serenity is up there along with Black Angel and Grand Cru ( if you like Sour's). Toss in Natty Green's Sour's, Hop Drop and Roll, Hi Wire's Lager, Pisgah's Red Lager, and you have a tasty start on your journey.

I am going to add Fonta Flora to the list. I went there last weekend for the first time and came away very impressed. They do a lot of one offs and I don't know much about their lineup but every beer I tasted was creative and solid. I heard the longest line at Beer Camp this weekend was for Fonta Flora's beers so the word is getting out. Hard to find their beers outside of the Morganton but kegs do make it to some of the cities from time to time.

Yup, it is what I order when I go into Green Man.

Natty Green's Sorgum Sour or their American Sour are real high on my list of great NC brews as well.

What about the Peabody's Blendiculous Line (shameless I know)...#1 is a ratings slayer and #2 is still getting great accolades and reviews, and #3 is going to make angels sing from on high and shall come with a guarantee of a lifetime of happiness once consumed (last part subject to change, please don't hold me to your happiness "golden ticket"). Soooooo delicious!!

Blendiculous 1 is easily the best beer to come out of NC, ever.

I gaze as my remaining preciouses every now and again.
