Am seeing the two variants Rye Whiskey & Wheat Whiskey for sale in my area for as low as 25.99 and as high as 31.99. Seems a tab overpriced for a 500ml bottle of 9 month aged stout (yes I know the base is good, but come on). Is this a price aberration or what this beer is actually going for country wide?
The real question, is, for those of you that bought it, is, "Did you get what you paid for?" These beers sounds great, but so is the base beer that costs much less. I'd love to try it. I haven't seen it around here. But if I did, I'm not sure I could pull the trigger at that price, be it 20 something or 30 something dollars. That's a lot of money for a guy like me, for a couple servings of beer. Has anybody whose drank these found them to be, enlightening, earth-shattering or be all/ end all? Inquiring minds would like to know. Thx
Thoose seem to to be very high prices, I love Old Raspu' but I wouldn't pay that much for a BA version of it.
I've always found the bal-aged Old Rasputin's to be pricey but good beers. While they are not the bang per buck beer the standard Old Rasputin is I find the bal-aging does transform old Rasputin into a different beer. If you go in thinking it will change your life you'll be disappointed but if you want a tasty RIS and are willing to spend the cash you'll get a good beer. $21.99 is what I paid BTW.
Bought the rye whiskey and will let you know soon. 28$ in NYC I know its pricey but figured what the hell first time. Do you guys know if this beer is better with some age on it? or drink now?
Hmmm...$19.99 pick up in Omaha, then same price in grocery store in Chicago 'burbs. Liquor stores in Chicago 'burbs have them mostly at $21.99. Opening them both up on Halloween!
I've only seen it once in my state, and it was around $25. But regular Old Rsputin is one of the cheapest imperial stouts out there, and there's a glut of amazing BBA stouts in the $10-20 range for a bomber, so I can't say I think it's worth the risk dropping the cash to try one. After all, in about six months, I'll be able to get a bottle of Parabola for $18.
Saw it at two stores in southern CA, $21.99 at both places. It's down from the las couple of years at $24.99, Old Stock Cellar Reserve is still sitting on shelves at $24.99. North Coast 500 ml beers are pricey.
. Thx[/QUOTE] I just opened last year's version last night. It was fantastic. Was it significantly better than drinking it fresh? Probably not, though I believe it was better after it was aged. I still have a few more, will open another in six months or so. I know most people feel the BA old Rasputin, is not worth it considering the regular Rasputin is exceptional and cheap. I feel it's totally worth a few bottles a year.
Same brewery I spent $25 on a 500 ml bottle of BA Old Stock Ale (I love the base beer), and while the beer was fantastic I'm not sure I'd be willing to spend that kind of money per ounce again.
