Im heading to North Conway for Sat evening and Sunday, and Im looking for the best store in the area. Other than Moat Mountain, im not looking for anything in particular, just want to hit the best beer store in the area. I looked through the BA directory and the only one that jumped out was the Vista country store. Any other recommendations, including protips (special beer behind counter etc) Thanks in advance for any and all help!
Glen beverage. Picked up black ops and interlude there the other week. Maybe pricey, but best selection in the area.
Vista Country store may even be better than Glen Beverage these days and its slightly close to North Conway. I'd also recomend the The Good Beer Store in Freyburg a little ways down 302
I'll second the Vista Country store....picked up Sucaba there last weekend. The beer guy (super nice and helpful) said they had a couple more out back when I asked. Also still had Founders Imperial Stout and other assorted goodies.
Depends what you are looking for. Keep in mind that NH gets very little that you can't easily get in MA, and nor do they have anywhere near the limited release type of selection. So, if you're looking for locals, the cheapest place is actually a little hole in the wall near Shaw's called Discount Beverages. Good selection and prices tend to be 10-20% below what you'd expect to pay. Glen has a nice selection, just be wary of old bottles and high prices. Vista is a solid option closer to town. Good Beer Store is nice, but out of the way, and their best asset is their international selection, all of which you can easily get in MA anyway.
Thanks for the insight. Other than Moat Mountain, im not looking for anything in particular, just wanted to pop in somewhere since im only there for about 18 hrs.
I was just in Vista about 45 minutes ago. Picked up a 6 of FW Union Jack. He still has some Founders Bolt Cutter left and has lots of different varieties of White Birch. If you're looking for Moat bottles, buy there and not the brewery. They're cheaper at Vista. And he still has the Imperial Stout warm.
Perhaps you know already, but just in case you don't: There's a great bar extremely close to North Conway - across the Maine border in Lovell, ME. Ebenezer's Pub. If you have a little (or a lot) of time to spare, it's a great stop.
Clem at the Vista Country Store is the guy to go to. Other 'beer' stores in the area, like Glen Bev in Glen and Discount Bev. in No. Conway have a bigger stock, but the owners/managers are not really into craft beer, which you can tell by the amount of dusty out-of-date bottles. Plus, Vista is right down the street from the Moat so you can grab dinner there and then pick up something at Vista for dessert. Occasionally he'll have stuff in the fridge per request but even this past week he put Sucaba out on display. Also, a lot of stuff thats warm out on the shelves he has cold in the fridge if you ask.
Unfortunately I wont have time this trip, but Ive heard great things about Ebenezers and will be going there next time i visit N Conway
Vista is surprisingly good, Glen Beverage is the go-to, and I was impressed with what I found at Discount Beverage in Conway last time, but I definitely get the feeling it could be hit-or-miss.
