I'll be traveling to North Hampton around the 4th of July and was wondering if anyone could recommend some good craft beer spots (bars and bottle shops)? Any local breweries? Thanks in advance.
I would check out Table and Vine, it is about a half hour south of North Hampton in West Springfield. Northampton Brewery is a good place to grab lunch and a few pints.
You really can't go wrong in NoHo. Great beer and food abound in this lovely college town. The Northampton brewery has good food and great beer. They have a beer garden which is a fine place on a sunny day. Opa Opa is close by in Southampton. I can't speak to their beer or food from personal experience as I have never been. I have heard mixed reviews, hopefully someone can chime in here. The craft beer spots in Northampton that are a MUST visit in my opinion are the Sierra Grille and The Dirty Truth. The food and beer at Sierra Grille and the Dirty Truth is top notch. I'm partial to the Grille for the food. The duck confit is out of this world. You really can't go wrong with the beer selection at either place. Staff at both places are knowledgeable and very helpful. Hinge is another craft beer spot in Noho. While they usually do have a great selection of beer I have found from my experience that their bar service can be lacking in personality and general beer knowledge. Don't let this dissuade you as your mileage may vary. Liquiors 44 in NoHo has a decent selection of local, regional, and national craft beer. Easthampton has Tru beer. While I have never been, I have heard this place rocks as a bottle shop. Amherst is a few miles to the East. It boasts the Amherst brewery which has decent food and a great selection of beer brewed on site. It's worth a visit if you find yourself in this bustling college town. Another great craft beer spot in Amherst is the Hangar. They serve up over fourteen taps of great beer along side with the best wings East of Buffalo. Spirit Haus is the local store in Amherst to hit for bottle, cans, and grolwers of local and regional craft beer. South Amherst is also close by. It is home to the Moan and Dove a local bar that has an epic selection of beer on tap. Local legend Daniel Lanigan the proprietor of Lord Hobo in Cambridge, MA started both then Moan and Dove and the Dirty Truth. He left quite a legacy and both places certainly live up to their expectations. Table and Vine which is South of NoHo in West Springfield. This place is a beer, wine and liquir super store. You can find just about anything here. Great prices too. Greenfield is twenty minutes North of NoHo. It's home to Ryan and Casey and amazing bottle shop. It also has the Peoples Pint a local brewery with good beer and great food. Enjoy your time in New England.
Include in the above Provisions on Craft Ave. great retail And I have not been a fan of Opa-Opa. Cheers
I'll throw in another vote for TruBeer in Easthampton. It's about 5 minutes down Route 10 from NoHo. It's a great bottle shop, and they guys who run it are awesome. Also, if you do make it to Easthampton, I would also highly recommend Riff's Joint and the adjacent Hideaway Lounge for an awesome meal and some craft beers.
I really like Hinge- got a $6 12oz pour of KBS sometime this winter, and almost fell to the floor. Also, McLadden's recently opened, and they've got roughly 100 taps. It's a little more pricey there- $6-8 for most pints but they've obviously got a great selection, including some Treehouse beers usually. Tru Beer is my favorite local bottle shop. Tyson and Sam will talk to you all day about beers and recommendations, and they have a decent selection of local offerings in the fridge at all times.
