I was wondering if anyone is interested in setting up a bottleshare in north jersey? Never tried to set one up on here before, but I figured it might be fun. I have a bunch of new glarus, Russian river and some three floyds stuff worth sharing. Let me know.

People are always interested in something like this, so your best bet is to schedule a date, have a place lined up, and keep the count reasonable to avoid a shit-show. People will jump in if they don't have to do a month-long back-and-forth conversation about the logistics.

I have tried to do one 3 times now. One got cancelled due to snow. The other 2 one couple came. I think I had over 500 page views with no response. Its like no one really wants to get together in my opinion. Best of luck to you and your share

I think the problem is people don't want to drive that far after a share. You need a general location for people and a date for people to commit to. north jersey isn't that small.

Agreed. I would say most people are here to learn about beer and to see what's being offered in their region. Not to get together with random dudes. Also driving home after drinking so many whalez wouldn't be a good idea.

yeah, hard to have a bottle share if you have to drive back a lengthy trip afterward.

also, with you having RR, New Glarus, and whatnot, many NJ posters may be intimidated that their stash of local stuff isn't enough and won't stand up to other bottles there (NJ distro is very limited in terms of WHALEZ; Kane and Carton are great but everyone knows NJ bottle share hosters have had everything from them). not everyone has trade partners or can travel frequently enough to get bottles on par with that, so yeah -- you'll probably have trouble setting one up.

Agree with this. I'm up in North Jersey and would love a share at a local place, but would be also thinking of what others are going to bring. From my experience, best method is to start a spread sheet and lock in commitments. That way everyone knows what they're getting into an whether it'll be worth their time (some people feel that way about bottle lists).

Why don't we just do it? Everyone seems to know the general idea of it. I'd even organize, location is the only killer for me. I have no idea where

I'm up in Morristown, and they have a craft beer bar, Hops, that would do it easily I bet.

Could try a brewery to see if after hours they'd allow the space? I don't know. Worth a shot. I'm interested but just depends on the date of course.

Interested as well, but would depend on date and location.

I have a couple ideas for a location in north Arlington or Fairfield. I will check to see if the owners are in for hosting a share. I can also setup an excel sheet so everyone knows what's coming. Trying to intimidate someone with crazy hard to find bottles is not my intention, I was just trying to share the wealth, and broaden horizons a bit.

I'd be down for it! I don't want to drive an hour for a share, but 30 minutes is fine. Keeping it small, 5-6 people and limiting the amount brought, maybe 2 bombers each, would make it not only efficient, but also safe. With a larger group, then maybe it could be a 'choice' of a number of beers instead of each person getting a taste of all of them.

What about possibly getting together at one of the newer breweries, Brix City or Magnify? Maybe the owners would allow us sometime (non peak hours would be best...maybe a week night). Just a thought.

Brix is open on Thursdays, 5-9. Maybe we can check with them to see if it is OK if we stop by as a group and have a share, giving to them as well.

Just throwing it out there, contingent on if they are cool with it, June 18th?

I'm in Essex County and would be down for a bottle share. I have a few bottles in the cellar I have been saving. Whose up for one this weekend? ha

Brix City guys are really cool, but I guess it depends on whether or not it is permissible.

Magnify is 1 minute from my work so it'd be easy for me to get over there!

This weekend I'll be in philly for some Philly Beer Week. Maybe a thursday/friday in the future!

I was actually planning on checking out magnify this weekend I can talk to them and see if they are up for something like that, and report back. School is almost out for the year so my schedule is wide open in a few weeks.
