North River Hops and Brewing Closing

    Don't really know much about the place or what lead to them closing. Not sure if it's a reflection of anything in general or just specific circumstances.

    They arguably had the best location a brewpub could have, on Rt. 9 south of Po'town in the heart of the shopping and dining district. Their beer style selection was all over the place, but full disclosure I only had two of their beers, both growlers shared by others, and never stopped in to the place. I think they didn't find a niche, nor do anything as well or better than others, from my limited experience with them and comments from others. I don't think they will be the last one to need to close as the overall quality of beer in this area goes from really good to its present off the charts, and not everyone keeps up

    I never stopped in there myself, but I really don't stop by much of anywhere. I tried a few of their beers up at Tap one year.

    From the posts on FB it seams people liked the place. There's also a post on how they were looking to relocate to a larger space.

    While they were on 9, you really couldn't tell that they were there. It was around the back/side of the building and they didn't have much of a sign out on 9.

    Cousins just opened across the street, but I wouldn't think that had much to do with it. They too are around the back of the building, but their sign is a bit more noticeable.

    Via second hand information - as I understand, specific owner/family related circumstances were the main factor. I'm a Wappingers resident and will miss having them around.
