Greetings BAs, I'll be brewing my first beer this weekend, Northern Brewer's White House Honey Porter, and was wondering if anyone could provide some details about their experience with this recipe or any other from Northern Brewer.
Never brewed it, but in case you have not seen them yet, there are 52 reviews on the website - http://www.northernbrewer.com/shop/review/product/list/id/6200/category/491/
I knew they had reviews but I actually wasn't expecting that many. I'm sure someone will wonder in here to give you input as well.
I have never done the White House Honey Porter, but I've brewed probably close to a dozen NB kits, and they've always been good to great. Fresh ingredients and very easy to follow instructions for newbies. These days I still base some of my recipes on the NB ones, the NB web site is a good archive of solid recipes to use as a starting point when creating custom recipes. Good luck with your first brew!
Munich should not be steeped as a grain, sadly there is nothing you can do about it now. I've heard that if you drink it with your right hand, it is very bitter. If drunk with your hand it seems heavenly. Either way, the NSA will track your thoughts on the beer, and you will be allowed to keep your beer if you like it* *Some exceptions may apply.
...or will you...? Hopefully it doesn't end up costing twice the price for half the flavor after you have already purchased it.
