Hi, been on BA for a while but not a big forum guy but I figured this would be a good place to ask some advice. I've got to travel from northern Wisconsin to Adrian, MI several times this year and I'm looking for tips on some good places to stop brewery/brewpub/bottle shop entertainment. I've been to Founder's, Jolly Pumpkin Cafe, and Big Buck before. And hit the Marquette locations already too. Not opposed to a minor detour but with a long drive already I'm not looking for a cross state trek (unless its worth it!). I appreciate any advice.

What route are you taking? Up and over is going to be a different set of answers compared to down and around.

Better question is what are the dates so I can plan on riding with you?

It's only about a 25 mile detour off of I-75 at the Gaylord exit (Big Buck) to get to Short's in Bellaire. That will be the best 25 mile detour of your life.

Adrian actually has a small brewery, Cotton Brewing. Not sure how the growler fills work, I have only had their beer at festivals. However, they have a Maple Bacon Porter that I really enjoyed. Also Kuhnhenn in Warren is amazing, Hopcat in Lansing, and Jackson had Grand River Marketplace.

I changed the thread title before posting. It did say Mackinac to Adrian. I'm avoiding The Arm Pit and taking the bridge.

If you don't feel like doing the extra driving to Marquette you can stop off at Sav-Mor in Escanaba instead. It will be right on your way (4 blocks off of US2 &41) and they do have a good selection. You might be able to find a few goodies on the shelf that would have sold out elsewhere. Escanaba residents are not big into craft beer, for the most part, so things you would expect to sell out anywhere else tend to stick around a little longer. Be sure to pick up some Blackrocks beer if you stop. The 51k IPA is quickly becoming one of my favorites.

Also where are you from in Northern WI? I'm an Escanaba transplant, now living in Spooner, and wouldn't mind making friends with any local BA's in the area.

I will second the Sav-Mor in Escanaba. Any time I am even remotely close, I will stop. Never disappoint.

Is Rhinelander your starting point, or you're on your way and that's your first stop?

Rhinelander is home. Leaving this Wednesday. Hoping to find a good bottle shop or two along the way but I might prioritize brewing ingredients above finished product.

check out danleys country house between adrian and tecumseh while you're in adrian.. nothing too crazy but its literally the only bar within 45 minutes to get decent beer on tap.

If you're coming all that way Toledo, OH is only 45 minutes south. There are a couple places with a good selection of beer not distributed or readily available in Michigan.

I'll third Sav-Mor in Escanaba. It's only a few blocks from my house and I'm there at least weekly!

Pretty sure it isn't open yet, but if you are making the trip in the summer months I suggest Eagle River Inn/The Fitz.

We took a trip from Sugarcamp to there and it was about 3 hours. Well worth it.

No, they aren't open yet....in fact, I think they just got the front door shoveled out.

Been there a couple times. Stopped at Save More. Oddly nice selection from a small grocery. Got some Bell's Third Coast Old Ale and a Scotch ale from Blackrocks.
