ill be in Canton-Jasper-Ellijay this weekend and I was looking for a brewery or two to hit, as well as some bottle shops. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
I think the breweries up there are blue ridge, Fannin, and dahlonega. I'd check their websites/facebook. If these are not close to you, I apologize, not too familiar with up there. Just trying to help, saw your post slipping down the list. Welcome to GA! (I used to live in Jupiter, FL. I'd do an ipa trade for sure if I was up there) Have a great trip. Also, most breweries are only open 2 hours for "tours" up here. Way different from FL.
Sorry man, didn't see you listed Canton. You are close to Burnt Hickory and should def. try to go there Saturday. Your also not too far from Red Hare and 5 Seasons brewpub in Alpharetta. I'm sure there are others I'm forgetting. I can't help with bottle shops.
Not much bottle action in that area but if you can head East towards Cumming, Jax Package is pretty good to hit.
@HopDawg03 is right: Much different from Florida. Breweries don't have (I guess they CAN'T have) tasting rooms in the way we're used to. They sell pint glasses that have tickets one can exchange for samples. And hours tend to very limited (as in, Fridays and Saturdays). Blue Ridge Brewery (brewpub) and Grumpy Old Men Brewery (nanobrewery) are both in Blue Ridge, which may be worth a drive if you're on the Ellijay end of your location spectrum. I'd certainly be incined to head south if you're more toward Canton. I don't know about bottle shops but it may make more sense to hit a place in Marietta or even Kennesaw along the way. I'd defer to my firends along that route for more specific recommendations.
I did pretty good last year at Appalachian Beverage. I also hit TW in Mareitta and one out in Canton that also did growler fills

ha...no worries. we got Hunahpu when we poured at CCB. No sweat. if you have some beers in yr car, we can personally do trades... just can open and drink them.
