The was a small local craft Beer Festival with 6 breweries. Not sue if that qualifies for a beer festival but that is the advertising. Actually, I only remember 5.

There were lots of fruit beers. Lots and lots.

I like dark beers. I tied the Torg Brewery and Blue Wolf offering. A nice brown ale and a nice American Porter respectively.. Omni was there I have tried them a couple of times and even visited there tap room. I like them but skipped them tonight to be able to try others.

Elm Creek Brewing did not have any thing dark but had an Oak Aged Pilsner. It was one of the best Pilsners I have tried.

Then there was Alloy Brewing. They failed. They had what the called an Imperial Stout. I was about the color of a pilsner. To me what makes a stout is the dark roasted malt and the strong flavors it has that is able to burry the alcohol flavor. Well the alcohol came threw really strong. I think they tired to add vanilla to make up for it. It was like drinking a hoppy vanilla vodka. It just did not work. I drink half and threw the other half out.

Blue Wolf gave out a token that is good for their tap room. I am going to have try it out some evening. There web site shows a nitro session IPA. That makes me really curious.

I wish Alloy would just rename that “stout”. That one aside, their beers have really improved over the years and is worth a visit and a retry for those who haven’t since their first years.
