Brewed one a couple months ago but it got too cool and stalled with too high of a final gravity. Transferred it onto some Brett and going to let it go through the winter most likely. Should get nice and funky. You definitely have the right weather in Florida for it since it stays warm year round. Brew your own!

I want to! But I'm moving back to NY in a couple of weeks. Bum timing. Guess I could get a heating pad?

Call me crazy, but I've tried most of the Christmas beers that are out now, and my favorite is still the Great Lakes' Christmas Ale. Very few hits. Most of them have been "miss" for me.

Funny you say that, because some of the winter warmers I've had taste like both yardwork AND swampass.

I pretty much end up really disliking most of the fall/winter spice rack/warmer beers. That said, as soon as I see that Twitter post that Lagunitas' Sucks/Holiday Leftovers is finally ready for sale I'm pretty sure that I'll be plumping up as I walk into the bottle shop.

I just tried Sierra Nevada Celebration for the first time and have to say I didn't think it lived up to all the hype. I felt like I took a face first header into a pine tree. Not my taste I guess. However I really did like the Sam Adams Old Fezziwig Ale.

I feel like Celebration gets a little over hyped, but I like it alot. Nothing special, but a solid beer through and through.

And as far as Old Fezziwig...I love it. I'm so annoyed that the only way you can get it is in a crappy holiday mix pack. Luckily my local place had broken up a few mixed packs and he gave me a couple Fezziwig singles for free. That's why I love them

I feel the same way about Celebration, was unfortunately very disappointed. It's my least favorite SN brew I've tried by a mile.

My girl enjoys it though so she's polishing off the sixer that I bought.

I actually did enjoy 2XMAS. Strange and a bit of a one off, but I liked it!

There's nothing kitchy about doppelbocks, they won't ever be as popular as pumkin beers are in the fall.

In regards to the OP, I really dont like Winter Warmes either. For me, winter is barleywine, old ale, and imperial stout time.

I agree with you there. It's the only time of the year that I really feel like, "yes, I do want to drink a beer that tastes like the tears of the peasantry in czarist Russia, Dickensian street urchins, alarmingly solemn Midwestern homesteaders."

And I was just saying what if doppelbocks ever DID get as popular as pumpkin ales? I'm sure a few brewers would find a way to screw it up.

I agree with most holiday beers (pumpkins, winter warmers, etc.) being either too sweet, overspiced, or a combination of the two. However, I absolutely love dopplebocks and oktoberfests. I also love many of the seasonal beers like Celebration, STBC Harvest Ale, Founders Harvest Ale, Narwhal, etc.

I don't understand your pumpkin beers at all! Fortunately those beers are quite unusual outside States.

Agreed, I am not a fan of most Christmas beers either. I do appreciate Delirium Noel (and all similar beers) though.

Not all seasonal/holiday beers are overly spiced!
The St. Bernardus Xmas beer is amazing, as is the Delirium Noel. If Belgians aren't yr thing, I would say definitely try the Southern Tier Krampus - that stuff is awesome!
