AFAIK, at least at most places, price per ounce is based off the cost of the keg, with a standard margin left for profit. If that same beer had been a pint, it'd have been even more expensive.

I can’t think of a single place I go that doesn’t have sizes listed with the price. Oddly though, every single one is listed with imperial measurements. I suppose some day the metric system will take hold!

My favorite beer bar gives you the ABV/price for the beer but not the pour size, and the only exception to this rule is Guinness (listed at 20oz). Everything that is above 8.5% ABV, a sour, or Belgian just has an asterisk next to it denoting that it's a smaller pour, but that could be 8-10oz and you have to ask to know for certain.

I always ask (unless I forget) what the pour sizes are. I see 13-oz. glasses on occasion. There are many odd sizes nowadays.

To add To my original post, you reminded me about the asterisk. The place I go does this with higher ABV only available in the 13oz pour. Nothing gets to crazy though. 7% might be the biggest ABV I remember.

I would love to see marked glass and for the glass to be larger than the pour. 14oz glass marked to a 12oz pour so there can be nice head and no complaining.

    Enjoy

Reminds me of my young years when draft was sold in 6 oz draft glasses with a pour line 1/2 in from the top. They were marked LLBO (Liquour Licensing Board of Ontario). It seemed to be the only size available. You just ordered as many as you wanted 1, 2, or more.

In NC and Florida tap rooms and breweries typically have descriptions, ABV, pour size, and very occasionally IBUs.
Restaurants are more vague sometimes, but the chance of skunkiness from draft lines increase as well. The closer you source your beer then generally the fresher it is, and the better it is in every aspect.
    Just one man's opinion.
    Eat local.
    Drink local.
