Not seeing the full writeups for all reviews

    i know you have to enter a certain numbers of words for reviews but sometimes I look at the reviews for a certain beer and some have the full writeups included and others just have their scores with no writeup. Any idea why that is. Are those users no longer on the site perhaps?

    Also sometimes the overall rundown on a beer with say the average score with 5 reviewers for example but when I look to read the five reviews only two are there. Anyone know what is up with that as well...

    The ones without write ups are probably "hads". You can enter a beer here either with a "had" (had it) with just a number, or a full review (text and number). You can toggle whether you see the "hads" on or off (see the top of the page panel), which may explain the differing number of entries. There is a bug that if you have the "hads" turned off (which I do; hate and distrust them), but review a beer, after you review, the "hads" toggle back on. Otherwise the toggle is sticky (if you turn it off, you won't see "hads" any more in the list...excepting the bug upon review).
    Search the forum for discussions pro and con on "hads" for information. The listing "hads" was introduced earlier this year.
    You get a bit more karma for full reviews.

    If there's a score and no write up, it is a "had" (aka quick review). If there is a score and a write up, it is a full review. If you don't want to see the individual scores with no write ups, uncheck the "show hads" box.

    The total number of "reviews" (full reviews) and "hads" is listed on the top of each beer's page under the rAvg and pDev. The sum of these is listed as the total "ratings" on the top under the BA Score.
