I never liked the process of washing yeast. Instead, I just make an extra 1/4L of starter and then re-fill a clean and sterilized yeast vial prior to pitching the yeast into the beer. This way I have another ~100B or so of fresh, non-stressed yeast to use in a starter next time. I just keep that cycle going. It's been working fantastic for me thus far.
