Speaking of LCCB, was at Dominion earlier today. They had bottles of Supreme Leader in. No, they haven't posted it on FB yet. They definitely have it, i got a bottle, and they probably have some bottles left.

 

Looks like Cascade is also distributing to MoCo now if anyone is interested. Downtown Crown has the Cranberry Wild Ale. Can't imagine that any of those bottles will be below $35 after they get processed through the MoCo Gestapo.

Had my first 2016 KBS. I thought it was Breakfast Stout or SMS. It's all coffee! Where's the bourbon? Where's the chocolate? Where's the vanilla? oak? Any semblance of a balanced flavor profile? Sigh. I gave away the rest of my allocation to friends who wanted to try it based on hype.

 

Heard 1 West Dupont Liquors had a big deal on KBS....$29.99/ONE bottle. The place continues to amaze me.

 

Arrowine has it as well, along with the rum barrel versions of Coffee and Chocolate Obsession -- all three are about $18/19 each.

 

I haven't tried this year's KBS yet (I will this weekend), but I've long been a staunch defender of the beer in the face of countless "this beer is overrated" posts. That said, I'll give two caveats: 1) I think a lot of folks expect a massive bourbon profile like we get in BCBCS, and KBS has simply never been that kind of beer; it's a much subtler flavor profile, which, when done well can lead to an incredible balance of chocolate/coffee/bourbon/oak; but, that said 2) the beer tends to vary more than most year to year; looking through past reviews, I've definitely flagged the 2010 and 2014 as "off-years" for KBS when the barrel just doesn't impart as much flavor on the beer as you'd usually want with a BA stout. Really hoping 2016 is not one of those off years!

 

Well said. For me I prefer KBS over BCBS because I prefer coffee over bourbon. BCBS is just too boozy for my taste. I've had one 2016 KBS and the coffee does seem more pronounced this year and it's just how I like it. But I can see how folks who want more bourbon may be disappointed.
