I sent a crowler of s'mores deceiver to a buddy in NY and when he opened it at the end of the week he noted that it had developed significant banana ester taste.

 

For that matter, I opened a can of 10-day-old Space Reaper last night, and it was a malty, buttery, pine-sol mess. Gross and undrinkable. Hope there's some good cans among the remaining five. Really glad I didn't buy more than 1 sixer. After other bad can experiences with OTWOA, I think I'm done with DC Brau cans.

 

Pretty much a typical DC Brau experience at this point. They are really consistent at being inconsistent.

They are pretty keen to keep the price consistently high though

 

I just tried another can of Space Reaper, and while it didn't have as much diacetyl taste, it just wasn't very good. It doesn't smell good, and it just tastes like a really hoppy beer that's sat too long and gotten kind of grossly malty while the hops go into kind of a Lysol thing. Yet the can is less than 2 weeks old. Blech, couldn't finish this one either. The stuff on tap was a totally different beer, although there was something a little weird about the smell there too. Disappointing.

 

I'm going to be drinking a lot of Two Hearted this summer.

Also, saw a lot of discussion earlier on whether they are allowed to prefill crowlers or not. According to their Facebook they'll be prefilling crowlers for today - "The Double Orange Starfish will be pre filled and so will some of the Astro Zombie to shorten the wait time".

So hopefully that means shorter wait times for the future knowing that the demand has increased exponentially.

 

Very convenient, however I sometimes wish they did not crowl their beers so this trading/muling malarkey could cease.

 

at the same time, I really appreciate it, because I can enjoy full pours of double IPAs without driving drunk afterwards.

 

Anyone in the Mug Club can go at 2:30, so that's probably how they are able to pre-fill.

 

Drink one 12 oz 10% beer over the course of an hour and you're still within legal limits, I think.

 

If the sun is still up its not drunk driving.

 

This is where growlers and not crowlers would be nice.
