Many would argue(myself included) Heady is THE original NEIPA

Will do. Might crack one today. Pretty excited about this one because I think it’s their first Northern German Pils.

I don’t necessarily disagree with you but that’s a whole thread on its own.

What would you expect to be the difference between a Northern German pilsner and Fodderstompf? I recall the latter being relatively hop-forward, heavy on the lemon/citrus notes.

Pilsners by definition are hop forward. A Northern German Pils will be even hoppier, crisper, and drier than a Southern German Pils.

I had German Afternoons yesterday, and it’s excellent. It’s definitely a Northern German Pils, hoppier than Fodderstompf for sure.

Any chance that Northern German Pilsner will still be around in three weeks?

Oh I am a lover of both too, but there is plenty of good NEIPA out there in New England. I certainly don't need Notch to mail me some!

I haven't seen any of the Voll Projekt beers in a while, wonder if they're on hold because lagers are becoming more popular?

I hope so, Plenty of other breweries in the higher alcohol space. I hope Notch can pay their bills and have a decent living off of producing traditional lagers. I figure the monthly subscription was cheaper than figuring out European date codes. They give us plenty of shite about our measuring systems, but putting a canning date on a beer is apparently too much work for many Euro breweries,

Their festbier and dopplebock are under the Voll Projekt line so I doubt it has anything to do with the rising popularity of lagers. Seems like a great time of year to be pumping out some full strength traditional styles to appease the lager geeks. Maybe a Maibock or Eisbock?

Loggerhead is due out in March. I'll be making the drive to pick up some of that, for sure.

Possibly. I see Tmavé is still available and I think that came out a couple weeks ago.

    Depends on demand.

Even if you can decipher the date it's usually disappointingly old...

How am I the first person to comment on Pitch Lined Pils finally getting bottled?

    You people are slipping!

I’m 2000 miles away and will probably never get to try it and I’m pumped for it.

@ChrisLohring are you gonna make some rad Notch “beer crates” to sell it in too? Euro style!!

I'm considering the subscription. If anyone has done it, please update with what was sent. I'd like to get a taste of what's included, beer-wise.

Sorry, am I missing the advantage of the subscription? Choosing your own 12-pack is $39 + $15 shipping ($54) vs. $50 for the subscription. So yes, $4 extra but I feel like that's worth it to be able to choose my own beers and not receive something I don't want or have already had. Just curious why folks would choose the subscription option.

For me, Notch has way more hits than misses. As a creature of habit, too, there may be a beer I pass over out of perceived preference that comes in a mixed 12-pack that I wind up loving (and buying more of).

It’s also a mindless, hands-free $50 box of beer that shows up monthly. As an example, I’m completely out of beer at the house right now. I don’t want to go to the store. The options are overwhelming and I’m tired of my local stores selection. If I went now, I’d probably come home with something Allagash (a great “worst case,” IMO). If I have 12 Notch beers coming, not only would I be getting 12 good to great beers, I’d be getting new beers I’ve never had and old beers I love.
