Unsure. I don’t know one offhand and didn’t find one sorting through their beers on Untappd.

Hey all, We had a slight miscommunication, and tomorrow in Brighton will be the 12th anniversary beer, Dvanáctka, that has been lagered in a pitch lined barrel. This is the first time the Dvanáctka will be released.

The Kvasnicove Pitch Line Pils will be released in the coming weeks, in both Salem & Brighton.

Sorry for the confusion. Also, this is only a 20L stichfass, so it will be gone quickly.

Thanks Chris. You expect it to be tapped at noon or later in the day?

I'm tapping it the second the doors open at noon.

Left this quote out on the main board, but certainly appreciate Chris’ sentiment here. Considering, an MA brewery (with a recent installation) that may be lacking in technique

So who else is going to be there tomorrow?
I mean, he's right. Is it intention or marketing? Is it how you want the beer or something to make the beers you make more appealing in a way that doesn't really have anything to do with the beer? I think the Czech taps produce something special. But we're seeing all sorts of lagers on these taps now. Is that what the brewers are intending for these beers (it's not just breweries using side pulls). There does seem to be cases where there is a disconnect.

**should note, I don't know if other countries use the side pulls.

Doesn’t matter U.S. brewers/consumers have a knack for aesthetics - “buying the taps just for the look” – falls into that class

…a stateside marketing tool that may eventually/regrettably get pulled across styles

Oh totally, consumers are foolish. My addition of what you quoted was because I don't claim to know everything about side pulls and where they are used. However, I am seeing a lot of German Pilsners on side pulls...

Side pulls as they are used in the Czech Republic create a wet foam which is different from the dry foam created via 'regular' draft taps. It produces an enjoyable drinking aspect, more of a mouthfeel thing.

While it is 'traditional' to used side pull taps for serving Czech beer styles such as Czech Pale Lager/Bohemian Pilsner, Czech Dark Lager, etc. I suspect that some US craft breweries, after making a substantial investment in purchasing & installing these expensive taps, will think that some non-Czech beer style will also benefit from having wet foam. I have not experienced this yet but...

    Cheers!

Maybe I wasn't clear. I haven't heard of German breweries big or small using the side taps. I've read brewers talking about trips to Germany and the Czech Republic and seeing these taps, but it's usually ambiguous if they were seen in Germany at all. What I was saying is that I am seeing a lot of German Pilsners (really a lot of different styles of non-Czech lagers) over in the US getting the side tap treatment. It doesn't seem like a native thing to me, but I don't have confirmation of that. Maybe some are trying to take advantage of that unique wet foam but a lot of it seems like it is trying to capitalize on the fetishization of those taps rather than using them in an innovative way.

I do think the ability to quickly deliver a pour is something that is of great use from a throughput perspective.

I have not visited Germany so I can't comment to the "native" question.

A craft brewery near me has been serving their Vienna Lager and Helles via Lukr side-pull faucets and those beers are excellent served that way for my palate. Nothing "fetish" here from my perspective.

FWIW I personally would not be surprised to see a craft brewery serve a Juicy/Hazy IPA from their Lukr faucet in the near future.

    Cheers!

Kicked in 45 minutes, hope you got some.

I thought it was really good, a bit hoppier than PLP I think which played well with the pitch resin.

Pitch lined Dvanáctka was a fun one to try but wasn’t a winner for me. Far more intrigued by the regular version.

Apparently, Trillium does Lukr taps for everything at their Fenway location strictly because of speed of service.

Good to walk in and see @EnronCFO and @AlcahueteJ right away. It was funny to pull into the driveway and see almost every spot almost already taken bc of a Pitch Lined Pils. Where else are you going to see that?
