I wonder if you’ll be able to move between locations? Or will communal outdoor seating be the only way to mix?

Brienne has an interesting storyboard going on right now - if anyone’s interested - with Chris, Evan Rail, scenes from Czech Republic (e.g. Pilsner Urquell, Únětický pivovar), etc…

I’m wondering the same thing. If it’s like Bow Market, you can’t bring other establishments alcoholic drinks into other spaces. Except during special events like Oktoberfest.

If I had to guess it’ll be similar, because you can only bring Notch beers to that garage area during special events (like the German Christmas Market).

    But which Notch!?

Looks like they added Biersal to the tap list in Brighton. I’m not a smoked beer guy normally, but I’ll probably give it a shot this weekend. 4.2% dunkel rauch is pretty unique!

I *am* a smoked beer person, so there's my Saturday afternoon planned!

Would be mine as well, but I got Tool on Saturday...I'm pretty sure Biersal will still be there next week.

Missed this when it was originally released/canned back in late ‘20, December. I’m a smoke fan. Drinking one now…

I did not know Ungespundet was back...thanks for the heads up - is there a reason you're not doing half liter pours in your krug? I think that was what the question was about in the other thread.

It was a surprise to me as well. Just went on at about 3 PM.

Maybe I misunderstood the question. As much as I like the Krug, I usually do a my first for a liter and then switch back to “proper” glassware/half liters. I like to see the beer and that Notch foam. Last week I did liter, then half, in the Krug.

I have to admit (as a non MC member) I did my first full liter pour the last time I went and it will probably be my last outside of Oktoberfest. Variety is the spice of Notch, imo.

Makes total sense and I figured as such (being able to see the beers is nice).

The Germans I’ve talked to don’t drink liters. They said the beer inevitably gets too warm.

I’m not sure about how many people drink liters in the Czech Republic. I sort of recall my cousin saying people were drinking in liters there.

And German styles tend to be higher ABV than the Czech, more incentive to not drink a liter at a time. I’ve been to Germany multiple times, and outside of Oktoberfest everything was served in a half liter or 1/3 liter (330 mL).

Even during Oktoberfest I only saw liters in the beer halls (Hofbrau and Augustiner) and obviously at the festival itself.

During my two week visit to the Czech Republic I never saw a beer served by the liter. The standard serving size is 1/2 liter:

Hey all, as usual a big thanks for the support. Some questions I wanted to answer:

    - Ungespundet is back in Brighton only. Alt kicked on Thursday so I kegged it on Friday for the weekend. We will bring back Stichfass on Fridays in the spring when biz picks up again, and hopefully it will be Ungespundet.

    - Biersal is back in Brighton, and in Salem sometime this weekend, This is our original Rauchbier, back when we brewed only one 6 years ago. Now that we brew five, we gave it a name last year, but same dunkel rauchbier recipe.

    - THE KRUG CLUB: The one liter steinkrug is a Bavarian vessel intended for biergarten drinking. It has insulative properties that helps beer stay cold, and prevents it from being light struck. We used them for the Krug Club because they are fun, and the most versatile. Want 1/4 liter in the mug, you got it. Want a 1/2, we can do that. Any beer style in any pour size. Also, Krug Club members can store any mug they want in the locker, as long as it has a fill line.

Although we focus on Czech Lager, most of the beer styles produced for the tap rooms are German, so the krug won. If you want a proper Lukr pour in a Czech mug, you should do that, as you still retain all the Krug Club benefits.

I've attended Starkbierfest in Munich, and during the fest all Doppelbock was served in liter glasskrugs. It was a challenge. My favorite biergarten, Augustiner, only serves liters, but I agree, 1/2 liters are the rule and liters are the exception. I've also seen liters in the Czech Republic, but again not the norm.
