He told me the same on the day of Halloween, because I was surprised I strolled right in (granted this was early afternoon).

Kölsch night returns to Brighton October 17th!!! No tickets, just show up anytime 4-10 pm. German food too.

I imagine this will not happen in October at Salem for obvious reasons. The entire staff would probably quit from overload.

Planning on hitting Salem this Sunday. Coming from Portland. Is it going to be a complete shit show? Any tips? Or should I go to the other Notch location?

Yes, it will be X1000. The city itself will be beyond packed.

However, if you do go to Salem just try to arrive in town before 9 and you should be able to find parking. Then get to Notch before opening and wait in line and you should be ok. I’d say at least a half hour before open. But you will be walking shoulder to should with people at times around the city. The brewery at open will be fun and not like Essex street insanity.

    Boston location, piece of cake

Might be a pick your poison situation this weekend. Sunday the Regatta will still be going on in Harvard, and Notch Brighton is typically swamped, particularly on the Saturday though, that weekend.

Still might be the better of the two though, Salem is just nuts. I'll let someone who's been in October this year though chime in.

Salem is busy but less crazy than you think. Notch was dead 1 pm last Sunday. Still parking spots in the lot.

Ahhh, kids have a birthday party in Arlington this weekend. I was planning to pop into Notch while they hung with their friends.

I think it’s really a roll of the dice for local events impacting Notch Brighton. I wouldn’t be too swayed because of the Head of the Charles. Not what I’ve been told talking to staff that it’s “out of the way” when it comes to the regatta crowd relative to drink/food options compared to Harvard Square.

New lager…this had been in tanks since August.

Though it looks like they copied the Zwickel Notes…

I asked the staff about it this weekend. Sunday might be ok. For Saturday, they said last year from around 4 pm on it was one in, one out. Because the events were over everyone headed that way. Before that it's better because the races are still going on.

Shitty weather Saturday isn't going to help either because then no one is in the beer garden.

Had it this weekend! If you dig the Zwickel you'll enjoy this one too.

More reason to go early-at open on either/both days. Plenty of drinking to be done from open to 4 then split once the crowds build.

Would like to see Chris & team host a (stateside) ‘Franconian Anstich Festival’, or a countertop Bavarian Day, considering the new addition to the Franconian cellar beers: Ungespundet, Zwickelbier, and Kellerbier…

Had the Kellerbier at Notch Brighton last night. Like Zwickel a lot but this is my favorite along with German Afternoons
